Youth Worker (Countywide Youth Bridges Program/CORE)

Overview:


Join the Los Angeles County team as a Youth Worker and participate in a 12-month on-the-job training program or a training assignment in one of a variety of entry-level jobs, including clerical, paramedical, or paratechnical occupations. As a Youth Worker, you will receive on-the-job training and under direct supervision, participate in entry-level work in one of a variety of job assignments in functional areas such as clerical, paramedical, paratechnical, and specialized assignments.
Responsibilities:

* Receive on-the-job training and participate in entry-level work in one of a variety of job assignments

* Function as a receptionist in a variety of settings

* Assist the public by providing directions, instructions, and responding to routine inquiries

* Type from plain or corrected copy, drafts, or verbal instructions

* Process work through data entry on a computer

* Assist in performing simple routine duties under direct supervision in patient care units, laboratories, radiology units, or in graphic arts, photography services, recreation therapy services, social and children services, the museum, library, beaches, or parks

Qualifications:

* Completion of 120 hours of career exposure with the County of Los Angeles Department of Human Resources' Countywide Youth Bridges Program (Option I) or completion of 300 hours of the County of Los Angeles Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services' Creating Opportunities and Real Experiences (CORE) internship career exposure program (Option II)

* Must be age 24 or younger at time of appointment

* PHYSICAL CLASS: 2 - LIGHT
