WATER SYSTEMS OPERATOR II (F1-09)

Overview:
The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) is seeking an experienced Water Systems Operator II to ensure the delivery of pure, clean water to the island, free of man-made contaminations. The successful candidate will have expertise in operating electrically-driven water pumping plant equipment, monitoring water reservoir levels, and supervising field investigations to alleviate unusual behavior in the water systems and equipment.
Responsibilities:

* Operate electrically-driven water pumping plant equipment to move large quantities of liquid around the clock

* Monitor water reservoir levels through telemetering and supervisory controls from the control center for the island-wide water system

* Take immediate remedial action in response to unusual behavior in the water systems and equipment

* Supervise and train crew members on the use of BWS telemetering and supervisory control systems, water pump operation, and other BWS work systems, procedures, and protocols

* May be required to assist with other Plant Operation functions when not assigned to a shift

Qualifications:

* Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment

* Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show competence in the operation of electrically-driven water pumping plant equipment

* Current State of Hawaii Distribution System Operator (DSO) Grade IV Certification

* Supervisory experience is highly desired

Rotating shift, holiday, and weekend work required. Work schedules are eight hours per day, five days per week, on one of the following work shifts: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m
