The Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye care and emergency treatment to patients in a primary care setting. Responsibilities include examining the eyes and visual system, diagnosing vision problems and ocular conditions, prescribing corrective lenses, and providing appropriate treatment, including therapeutic medications when indicated. The Optometrist will collaborate with primary care providers as an integral member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Evaluate patients; perform examinations to determine the nature and the extent of the disorder. Adjust and manipulate the spinal column and other extremities to align, or correct abnormalities caused by neurologic and kinetic articular dysfunction. Decrease physical interference to the nervous system, as it may cause pain; diminish normal function, or lower disease resistance. Conduct tests, including evaluating a patient's posture. Develop an individualized plan of care for each patient. Analyze the patient's posture, spine, and reflexes. Conduct tests including evaluating a patient's posture and ordering x-rays.
