About The Role - Material Handler (Upton, WY)
We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for a Material Handler within our Orica USA Logistics and Distribution team.
The Material Handler plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate handling of materials at Orica's transload facility in Upton, WY, which operates 7 days a week. This facility includes four silos and supports the daily transfer of ammonium nitrate from railcars to trucks. The role involves operating material handling equipment, performing physical labor-including sledgehammer work in hot conditions-and working at elevated heights to maintain paddle chain conveyors. Maintaining accurate inventory records and adhering to strict safety protocols are essential responsibilities of this position.
Work schedule
Work shift rotation: 4 days on (8-hour shifts), 2 days off
Must be open to working on-site in Upton, WY for all scheduled shifts.
The work schedule includes Sunday through Saturday, with weekend and holiday work required.
Overtime may be available but is not guaranteed or consistent.

Documentation: Accurately documenting shipping weights, batch IDs, and truck IDs.
Team Collaboration: Working closely with team members to maintain a positive, productive, and safety-conscious work environment.
Continuous Improvement: Bringing a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
Inspections & Compliance: Performing monthly inspections and inventory checks on ammonium nitrate. Also, ensuring all tasks are completed in compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.

Assists in keeping facilities neat and clean on a daily basis, within defined FCS and OSHA standards. Helps in performing monthly inventory as directed by location manager/supervisor.
Loads and unloads trucks arriving at and leaving the facility, as well as ensuring that all outbound loads are loaded, secured, and placarded correctly.
Helps to perform equipment maintenance to ensure that equipment is kept in good working order and manages equipment in a manner that avoids unnecessary damage or accidents.
Knowledge of, and how to operate all tools safely.
Attends all scheduled FCS and Grain department safety meetings. Observes, recognizes, and follows all safety procedures.
Expected to assist other departments as time allows or as needed and directed by the location manager/supervisor.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED must be 18.

Work Requirements:
This position is based in a fast-paced agricultural setting and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and vibrations. The employees are occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate but occasionally may be loud. PPE will be provided and must be utilized according to safety standards. Typical working hours are based on customer and organizational demand; hours may be long, irregular and include weekends and holidays during peak season.
While performing job functions the employee will be required to talk and hear most of the time. The employee will spend frequent intervals moving and sitting, while also needing to reach, bend, twist, crawl, crouch, stoop or kneel. The employee will need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently. Maneuverability on and off mobile equipment, ladders, and the ability to work at different heights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The physicality of this job is high.

What involved in this role:
* Utilize forklift truck and pallet jack to load and unload product shipments as well as delivery supplies.
* Report any issues with equipment to manager or supervisor.
* Understand and comply with all Quality Assurance policies, and immediately report any potential food safety issues to management.
