Opportunity Summary The O&M Technician will support operations and maintenance activities at the Richland Peaking Plant in Defiance, OH, and the Stryker Peaking Plant in Stryker, OH. Based primarily at the Richland Peaking Plant, this position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and auxiliary systems across both facilities. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, and making repairs to support plant performance and the delivery of dependable electricity to the community. Your scope of responsibility as O&M Technician will include the following primary functions: Assist in the start-up, shutdown, and normal operation of power plant systems, including turbines, generators, boilers, fuel handling systems, and auxiliary equipment. Maintain assigned logs for operational and maintenance activities, including equipment readings, abnormal conditions, and maintenance performed. Observe and report abnormal or irregular conditions, taking corrective measures within the scope of standard operating procedures. Assist during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance periods on mechanical and electrical equipment, including turbines, pumps, motors, generators, transformers, and control systems. Support the use of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) by accurately entering data, generating work orders, and adhering to the facility's maintenance philosophy. Thoroughly document equipment issues in Maximo work requests and record all maintenance actions, repairs, and spare parts usage on work order forms. Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on rotating equipment, electrical systems, instrumentation, and plant auxiliaries in a timely, safe, and high-quality manner. Read meters, gauges, and automatic devices to record parameters such as temperature, vibration, pressure, flow, and operating hours; visually inspect and listen to equipment to detect early signs of malfunction or wear. Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions in operational equipment, including pumps, fans, motors, turbines, generators, and fuel handling systems. Repair, replace, dismantle, and examine defective parts, including bearings, shafts, seals, belts, valves, and couplings, while lubricating and cleaning components as required. Use Fluke meters, oscilloscopes, and other test instruments to calibrate and troubleshoot plant instrumentation, electrical circuits, and protective devices. Assist in troubleshooting and maintaining programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and plant control systems, including control card replacement, wiring terminations, and system calibration. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Plant Manager to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. Isolate equipment (lockout/tag out as required) for maintenance and assist in repair work on equipment or structures as assigned or needed. Quickly respond to emergency call outs and assist as needed. Keep accurate logs and records and be able to produce information for production reports (such as utility usage, fuel used, chilled water/steam produced, etc. Complete all paperwork on time, such as (but not limited to), timesheets, logs, daily reports, etc. Inspect Company vehicles prior to operation to maintain safe operation and avoid trouble and delays during scheduled work.
