Must be able to communicate effectively with your crew leader and able to follow simple instructions. Requires prolonged periods of walking, stretching, bending, kneeling and the ability to lift at least 50 lbs. Empty and clean ash trays and cigarette urns Provide cleaning for all outside areas. Provide landscaping services, including mowing, trimming, and edging. Keep all sidewalks clear of debris, leaves, branches, snow and ice. Interact with fellow employees, state employees and customers in a courteous and friendly manner. Remove snow with shovels and/or snow blowers. Remove snow in all outdoor walkways, sidewalks, stairways, doorways and steps. Carry bags of salt from store room to needed location and or load on vehicles. Spread salt in all outdoor walkways, sidewalks, stairways, doorways and steps. The landscape maintenance team member performs a variety of tasks assigned by the team leader. The landscape team member engages in the following activities with supervision from the team leader. Lawn maintenance (mowing, trimming, edging, etc.), weeding, pruning, plant installation and care, possibly minor hardscape installation (concrete paver and natural stone pavements, retaining walls and other elements), material movement. Compensation Hourly compensation starting at $18/ Hour, based on experience and qualifications This role features a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates Benefits 401k with company match Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance available Responsibilities Performs a wide variety of horticultural tasks to ensure an attractive landscape and an optimal level of plant health, including weed control, certain perennial cultural practices, pruning, mowing, trimming, edging and other routine lawn-care activities (operation of lawn maintenance equipment) Material movement throughout job sites including wheelbarrow, ball cart, tarps and other tools. Uses hand tools including shovels, picks, rakes, etc. to dig holes for plant and hardscape elements, lawn grading, seed/sod installation and related activities. Performs other related tasks to aid in the construction and maintenance of softscape and possibly minor hardscape projects. Plant installation (transport, soil amendments, placement, etc.) Safely operates and maintains assigned equipment; notifies team leader of any necessary repairs. One year of experience is preferred but not required. Candidate must be able to read and write. Some knowledge of installation and maintenance practices including pruning, weed control, lawn maintenance, plant installation, hardscape installation, etc. is preferred but not required.
