IMAGINATION STATION Part-Time Educators Approximately 20-25 hours/week DESCRIPTION: This key position is the face of the Imagination Station and is responsible for content delivery of a variety of programs and experiences both inside Imagination Station and out in the community. Educators will be encouraged to bring their creativity and ingenuity to the position in an effort to provide a positive and meaningful experience for all visitors. FUNCTION: Delivery a variety of science content to diverse audiences. Educators will be expected to deliver content in a variety of different ways including but not limited to structured workshops, facilitated activities, demonstrations and science festivals. RESPONSIBILITIES: Enthusiastically deliver Imagination Station programming as trained to meet or exceed the standards of Imagination Station Impart knowledge and know-how of program content; explaining purpose, scope, and adaptability to science and everyday work/life experiences Present science programming/activities to audiences of all sizes and ages Facilitate hands-on activities on a diverse array of science content Strive to assure a meaningful Imagination Station experience Assist other departments as needed Make sure Imagination Station is well maintained on a daily basis REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma Solid communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to converse with people of all ages and at all levels Able to follow a set schedule during working hours Science, education or theater experience a plus but not required Positive, dynamic personality and demeanor is a must Able to work and contribute within a team of peers Abide by all Imagination Station safety polices/procedures Ability to be flexible when dealing with multiple activities Comfortable presenting science curriculum to students, families, schools and other community organizations Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings. Ability to stand for 8-hour periods Ability to lift at least 30 pounds above waist Must have a valid driver's license, with a safe driving record and be capable of operating the Imagination Station owned minivan for program purposes. Cincinnati Country Day School is seeking applicants for a full-time science position to begin August 2026. Candidates should have experience teaching chemistry and a willingness/ability to teach in another discipline, such as environmental science or physics. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, student-centered educator whose passion and expertise as a lifelong learner is modeled as a way to inspire and engage students. The CCDS science curriculum is focused on helping students to: * Develop skills in observation, interpretation, reasoning, synthesis, generalizing, predicting, and questioning as a way to learn new knowledge, while critically evaluating the validity of results and sources of error; * Collaboratively construct and defend logically coherent explanations of phenomena that incorporate a current understanding of science consistent with the available evidence; * Develop scientific problem-solving skills, including organization of available information, identification and application of pertinent principles, quantitative solutions, and interpreting results in the context of current issues and discussions around those issues; * Use developing science and technology skills in constructive community engagement that addresses the potential impact on local and global issues, including equality, accessibility, and environmental sustainability. A regular laboratory period is part of each course, providing students with direct, hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and associated technology. All students are required to take biology and two additional science courses, including a physical science and an advanced science. Currently, the department offers a number of AP courses and electives, and it is common for students to take four years of science, with some students opting to enroll in two science courses in their junior and/or senior years. Qualifications: * BS in chemistry or related field, with an advanced degree preferred * Besides helping the school and department meet its mission, the candidate should also have enthusiasm for teaching, experience with high school age students, and a willingness to explore new methodologies and technologies for instruction, including experiential learning * Computer literacy and proficiency, experience with technology in the classroom, and ability to effectively utilize a learning management system Teaching Expectations: The teacher will join a congenial and collegial department consisting of five faculty members while being supervised and supported by the science department chair and the head of the upper school.
