  • Lead Network Engineer, Deployment & Integration

    Fluidstack

    Remote job

About the Role Fluidstack is seeking a Senior Staff Network Engineer to lead our Network Deployment & Integration pillar. This role acts as the team lead, you'll be hands‑on building our first AI datacenter fabrics while establishing the deployment playbook that scales to GW deployments across multiple regions. This role demands equal parts technical depth and operational leadership. You'll time in the field executing deployments while building the systems, processes, and team that enable repeatable, factory‑line pod deployments. Success means handing over production‑ready fabrics to operations on schedule while building a deployment organization that can run 3-4 parallel datacenter builds. You'll develop a team of deployment engineers, establish handover criteria with cross‑functional partners (DC Ops, ICT, Validation). Focus Deployment Execution: Own hands‑on deployment of datacenter networks - front‑end fabric, back‑end fabric, BMS, management networks. Configure and validate switches, coordinate fiber/cabling remediation, manage hardware RMAs, and drive the first datacenter handover to production. Deployment Playbook Development: Build the repeatable deployment process that scales from double digit Megawatt to Gigawatt deployments. Define pre‑deployment checklists, turn‑up procedures, validation gates, and handover criteria. Document blockers, failure modes, and workarounds. Create the operations manual that allows future deployment engineers to execute independently with minimal guidance. Cross‑Functional Orchestration: Partner with DC Operations (rack/stack, power, structured cabling), ICT teams (fiber validation, insertion loss), Hardware (device staging, logistics), and Network Engineering (design review, config validation) to drive deployments to completion. Own the critical path - identify blockers within hours, escalatethe decisively, and ensure nothing stalls deployment timelines. Field Execution Leadership: Lead deployment teams in the field - coordinate travel, assign work, provide technical guidance during complex turn‑ups, and ensure quality standards. Build trust with datacenter partners through hands‑on problem solving and accountability. Handover Excellence: Define and enforce exit criteria for production handovers to Network Operations. Ensure every fabric meets standards for physical layer validation (OTDR traces, insertion loss), logical configuration (BGP/EVPN validation, reachability tests), observability (monitoring integration, alerting), and documentation (as‑built, cutsheets, runbooks). Own the relationship with Operations to ensure smooth transitions. About You Proven Deployment Leadership: 8+ years in network engineering with significant datacenter deployment experience. You've built large‑scale fabrics from the ground up - not just designed them, but physically turned them up in the field. You understand the gap between design and reality, and you know how to close it through detailed planning and relentless execution. AI Fabric Expertise: Deep hands‑on experience with modern datacenter fabrics - EVPN/VXLAN, BGP, CLOS topologies, high‑radix switching. Ideally, you've deployed AI/ML fabrics with RDMA (RoCEv2), lossless Ethernet (PFC, ECN), or equivalent high‑performance networking. You understand the precision required when every packet matters. Player‑Coach Mentality: You're equally comfortable getting hands on and building the team that scales beyond you. You've mentored, and developed engineers before. You know when to lead by example and when to delegate. You see building a team as part of the mission, not a distraction from technical work. Operational Pragmatism: You thrive in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments where perfection is the enemy of progress. You make pragmatic tradeoffs between speed and quality. You document as you go. You build processes that are good enough to scale, then iterate. You don't wait for perfect tooling - you ship with what you have and improve incrementally. Cross‑Team Influence: Exceptional at partnering across functions. You've coordinated complex projects involving hardware vendors, datacenter operators, cabling contractors, and internal engineering teams. You communicate clearly, escalatethe decisively, and earn trust through follow‑through and accountability. Travel Ready: Comfortable with 70-80% travel for extended onsite deployments during datacenter turn‑ups. Remote‑based but willing to be wherever the work is. You understand that deployment leadership means showing up when it's hard. Nice to Haves Hyperscale Background: Experience deploying networks at hyperscale companies (Meta, Google, Microsoft, AWS) or large AI infrastructure providers. You've seen what "good" looks like at scale and can adapt those lessons to a fast‑growing startup. Vendor Ecosystems: Deep familiarity with Arista, Juniper, or NVIDIA networking platforms. You know the quirks, the failure modes, and the workarounds. You have relationships with vendor TAC/SE teams and know how to escalatethe effectively. Automation Mindset: Exposure to network automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Python) and source‑of‑truth systems (Netbox, DCIM). You may not be writing automation yourself, but you understand how to design deployments that are automatable and you partner effectively with automation engineers. Project/Program Management: Formal or informal experience with project coordination, Gantt charts, critical path management, and cross‑functional program execution. You've been the person who keeps complex initiatives on track when everyone else is focused on their own domain. Startup Experience: You've built something from scratch before - ideally in a high‑growth infrastructure or cloud company. You're comfortable with rapid context switching, evolving requirements, and the intensity of early‑stage company building. Salary & Benefits Competitive total compensation package (salary + equity). Retirement or pension plan, in line with local norms. Health, dental, and vision insurance. Generous PTO policy, in line with local norms. The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $300,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location. This range represents our good faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting. Total compensation may also include equity in the form of stock options. We are committed to pay equity and transparency. Fluidstack is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. • Continuous Integration /Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) Subject Matter Expert

    GDIT

    Remote job

Type of Requisition: Regular Clearance Level Must Currently Possess: None Clearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain: None Public Trust/Other Required: MBI (T2) Job Family: Cyber and IT Risk Management Job Qualifications: Skills: Continuous Deployment, Continuous Integrations, Design, DevOps, Security Compliance Certifications: None Experience: 10 + years of related experience US Citizenship Required: No Job Description: Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) Subject Matter Expert The CI/CD Subject Matter Expert (SME) is the technical authority for building and operating secure, reliable, and efficient delivery pipelines across on-prem and multi-cloud environments. In this role, the CI/CD Subject Matter Expert owns the last mile to production. You will design, implement, and operate continuous deployment practices that move changes safely and automatically from “approved” to “live”, with policy, security, and evidence built in. Your responsibilities include release orchestration, progressive delivery (blue/green, canary, feature flags), automated rollback, post-deployment verification against SLOs, and end-to-end traceability in ITSM. You'll make deployments predictable for executives, painless for engineers, invisible to end users, and auditable for compliance. You will align day-to-day practices to federal frameworks (NIST RMF/CSF, Zero Trust/TIC 3.0, SSDF) and sustain ATO requirements through automation. Timeline: This is a contingent posting, expected to start in August, 2026 HOW the CI/CD SME WILL MAKE AN IMPACT You will replace legacy deployment practices with gated, observable, and reversible deployments that run without drama. By baking risk controls into the pipeline, pre-prod contract tests, change approvals as code, traffic shaping, health checks, and error-budget-aware promotion, you will cut change failure, shrink MTTR, and raise deployment frequency without increasing incidents. You'll standardize a “paved road” to production, so teams spend their time building features, not handcrafting releases; leadership sees accurate, real-time status and rollback readiness; auditors see consistent records and evidence generated automatically with every deploy. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED: Education: Bachelor's Degree. In lieu of a degree, an additional four years of related experience required Experience: 10+ years in in DevOps/Platform Engineering with hands-on ownership of production deployments at enterprise scale; 3+ years in regulated or federal environments (VA/DoD/DHS/HHS or highly regulated industry). Demonstrated results improving DORA metrics (deployment frequency ↑, lead time ↓, change failure rate ≤5-10%, MTTR ↓20-40%) using progressive delivery and automated rollback. Demonstrated results improving delivery KPIs (e.g., lead time ↓30-50%, change failure rate ≤5-10%, MTTR ↓20-40%) while sustaining ATO/ConMon obligations. Proven implementation of feature-flag-driven releases, blue/green and canary strategies, and zero-downtime database changes (online migrations, backward-compatible schemas). Experience integrating deployments with ITSM (automated change models/approvals, deployment records, back-out plans) and generating audit-ready evidence for RMF/ConMon. Track record operating in multi-vendor/SIAM environments with cross-team release trains and joint incident “swarming.” Technical skills: Release Orchestration & Progressive Delivery: Deep experience with tools/patterns for blue/green, canary, and traffic shaping (e.g., gateways, service mesh, rollout controllers); automated promotion based on SLOs, synthetic checks, and real-user signals; automatic rollback on guardrail breach. Feature Management: Design of flag strategies (kill switches, dark launches, percentage rollouts), flag lifecycle hygiene, and blast-radius containment; governance to prevent “flag debt.” Policy & Security-as-Code: OPA/Conftest, Sentinel, Checkov, Cloud Custodian; required tags/encryption, CIS/STIG baselines; pre-merge and pre-deploy enforcement. Deployment Automation: GitOps/desired-state reconciliation (e.g., Argo CD/Flux) for infra and apps; immutable artifacts; environment drift detection and auto-reconcile; promotion through environment rings. Containers & Platforms: Kubernetes/OpenShift operations (admission control, image policies, mTLS/service mesh), serverless and event-driven patterns; blue/green & canary releases. Post-Deployment Verification: Telemetry-based health checks, canary analysis, error rates/latency budgets, capacity/perf gates, and automated smoke/contract tests in production-like paths. Security & Compliance in the Pipeline: Policy-as-code (tags, encryption, network controls), SSDF/supply-chain controls (SBOM, signed artifacts, provenance), secrets management, and OSCAL/RMF evidence emission per deploy. ITSM Integration: ServiceNow (or equivalent) change models, risk scoring, approvals-as-code, deployment records, and back-out plans tied to pipeline events; status page and comms hooks for RevOps. Resilience & Chaos-Safe Practices: Fault injection/chaos experiments in pre-prod, controlled in-prod experiments with guardrails; DR runbooks validated via scripted drills. Cost & Performance Awareness: Ephemeral environments, right-sized runners, cache strategies, and parallelization; collaboration with FinOps on cost per deploy and pipeline ROI. Security clearance level: Public Trust Skills and abilities: Outcome Orientation: Designs deployments to measurable targets, deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, MTTR, SLO burn and publishes trends transparently. Clear Communication: Explains rollout plans and risks in plain language for executives, engineers, and non-technical stakeholders; writes crisp runbooks and “go/hold/rollback” criteria. Enablement & Leadership: Coaches teams onto the paved road; runs release readiness reviews; builds a community of practice for deployment excellence. Risk Management Mindset: Uses counter-metrics (e.g., speed paired with quality) to prevent gaming; enforces “small, reversible changes” and safe-to-fail defaults. Collaboration in SIAM: Coordinates cross-vendor release trains, enforces handoff OLAs, and leads post-incident learning that becomes pipeline policy. Discipline & Governance: Maintains versioned deployment standards and exception processes; ensures OneVA TRM alignment where applicable; keeps documentation current.
