Purpose and Scope
In accordance with Vogel Bros. Building Co.'s beliefs / values / mission / vision, the Superintendent is responsible for overall supervision and execution of assigned projects, from project planning to project completion. The Superintendent will oversee - of both Vogel Bros. field personnel as well as subcontractors and visitors - the safety, quality of work, cost of work, schedule, labor, equipment and materials associated with the assigned work. Responsibilities will be carried out in a manner that exemplifies and promotes a safe, caring and ethical culture on each assigned project.
Requirements:
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
A. General Duties
1. Responsible for the scheduling and coordination of all daily jobsite activities.
2. Regularly conduct physical inspections of job site (at least twice daily), focusing on progress, safety, schedule, quality and budget.
3. Coordinate both Company-owned and rented equipment needed to perform job-specific activities, ensuring Company procedures are followed to maintain equipment and prevent safety, risk and liability issues.
4. Ensure that required paperwork - as required by the Company or project-specific - will be completed in a timely and quality manner.
B. Quality Control
1. Ensure quality control is in compliance with Vogel Bros.' Quality Control Requirements and special instructions as required by the project, and/or directed by the Project Manager or Director of Field Operations.
2. Work with layout personnel to establish and lay out building lines, baselines, and benchmarks.
3. Audit job sites to ensure that high standards of craftsmanship, assembly, and cleanliness are met and maintained by all Vogel Bros. and subcontractor crews.
4. Coordinate and schedule third-party inspections.
C. Safety
1. Adhere to and enforce Vogel Bros. Building Co.'s Safety Program; local, state and federal safety regulations; jobsite-specific safety expectations; and safety tasks as requested by or coordinated with the Director of Safety and Human Resources, and/or the Director of Field Operations.
2. Maintain high safety standards by setting a personal example.
3. Conduct job site safety meetings and safety inspections.
4. Conduct Daily Huddles with your crews, focusing on safety, the day's planned activities, and ensuring the crew understands the plan and expectations for that day's work.
D. Cost
1. Be familiar with the cost projections established through the bidding and budgeting phase of the project.
2. Work with Project Manager and Director of Field Operations to plan for and control labor costs by utilizing crew analysis and other cost-projection tools.
3. Supervise and coordinate work activities to maximize productivity and minimize final costs.
4. Accurately report all production, cost, and job progress information on a regular basis.
5. Communicate daily production goals to work crews.
E. Schedule
1. Develop the project schedule, including manpower projections, in cooperation with the Project Manager and Director of Field Operations.
2. Update and maintain the project schedule weekly, in cooperation with the Project Manager.
3. Expedite and coordinate material deliveries and storage.
4. Conduct and document weekly meetings to schedule and coordinate the work of all Vogel Bros. and subcontractor crews.
F. Staff/Support Services
1. In cooperation with the Director of Safety and Human Resources and the Director of Field Operations, conduct human resources functions for field personnel.
2. Support continuous improvement of field personnel by way of:
i. “Leading by example”;
ii. Providing regular feedback - both strengths as well as areas for improvement - to staff regarding their performance, and working in cooperation with the Director of Field Operations to develop personnel;
iii. Complete performance appraisals and peer reviews, as requested;
iv. Assigning mentors to improve the skills of others; and
v. Creating a healthy environment where employees can reach their full potential.
Education and Experience
· Education equivalent to a high school diploma/GED.
· Five (5) years of experience in the construction field, two (2) years of experience as a construction foreman, or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience determined to be acceptable by the hiring authority.
Physical Requirements

Routine maintenance of greasing fittings & greaser, changing gaskets & checking fluid levels. Know the pump well enough to recognize problems and report them.
Represent the Company through efficient work and service.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to meet DOT requirements for hearing and seeing.
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds to overhead position.
Must be able to push and pull up to 50 pounds.
Must have the balance and dexterity to maneuver around a construction site, and must enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Good manual dexterity to climb on and around the pump in all weather conditions common to Wisconsin.
