When possible, Group Exercise Instructors should wear Golds Gym branded attire. Proper footwear should be worn at all times. During Class Responsibilities: Introduce yourself and the format of the class. Inquire if there are any first-timers in the group and if so, assess their fitness level in as private a manner as possible. Make sure all verbal instructions are clear and that the volume, tempo of music and overall atmosphere is conducive to hearing, teaching, learning and having fun. Continually monitor participants to ensure all participants are using correct form. Offer variations of the routine to accommodate all fitness levels. Create a motivational and fun environment for all participants. After Class Responsibilities: Remove all music and return microphone to proper place. Make sure room is in order for the next class to begin. Answer any questions/concerns participants may have. Solicit feedback from participants about the class. Additional Responsibilities: Refrain from using music with offensive language. Prepare appropriate music for class. Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and have microphones ready. Major Responsibilities: Make sure that class begins and ends promptly. If necessary, make adjustments to the flow of the class to ensure adherence to the schedule. If the Group Exercise Instructor is teaching the last class of the day, please follow proper closing procedures as outlined by the Group Exercise Director for the individual facility. In the event that a Group Exercise Instructor cannot fulfill a scheduled class, it is his/her responsibility to find a qualified/approved substitute and notify the Group Exercise Director if there is a problem finding a substitute. Group Exercise Instructors must be dependable and consistent in their class schedules. Anyone committing to teach a class should make all arrangements so that substitutes or cancellations are a rare occurrence. Attend all required staff meetings as necessary. Ensure that proper time recording procedures are followed correctly and in a timely manner. Prepare any incident and/or witness reports as necessary in the event of accidents. SWIM LESSON TEACHER ROLE SUMMARY This is a year-round position. Swim Instructors at Salem Gymnastics & Swim will be responsible for conducting swim lessons for multiple clients of different age and skill level. At times, Swim Instructors may be asked to perform ad hoc business-related duties as well. This role typically reports to the Deck Leader and Aquatics Director. ROLE REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to) Instruct individual and small groups swim lessons and water safety. Ensure lessons are taught using procedures and methods explained in your training. Educate and enforce safety rules. Strive to prevent accidents, maintain discipline. Administer first aid in the event of injury. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe pool environment for clients, staff, and general public. Represent the mission and vision of Salem Gymnastics & Swim. Attend meetings and training sessions as required. Perform ad hoc duties as needed (e.g. office/clerical work, event participation, etc). Practice excellent customer service and communicate to everyone who comes to the facility. Smile and have fun during the entire shift. Ensure that every child gets the same enthusiasm. ROLE REQUIREMENTS Past experience in lifeguarding, swim instruction a plus. Must have a passion for the water and working with children. Knowledge of general safety rules and precautions. Must have professional demeanor and appearance. Ability to work in a positive way with a wide range of students abilities and ages. Use appropriate communication skills with both children and adults. Able to handle a rigorous schedule which includes lifting, loading, and moving up to 40 lbs. Dependable motor vehicle transportation a must. Ability to work in and around swimming pools with exposure to chlorinated and chemically treated water.
