**This internship program is a 12-week program starting February 2, 2026.** **SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** This job has the goal of providing the opportunity to acquire practical experience through direct exposure to the related business line(s) and to develop the next generation of diverse business professionals. To that end, the program will provide hands-on training and experience in the business line, expose the various career opportunities in the business line and related areas, and prepare participants for positions in the business.

The Commercial Summer Internship Program is designed to give interns a look at Citizens Bank's culture and exposure into one of the many Commercial Banking business lines through project-based assignments, learning curriculum, networking, volunteer opportunities and formal mentorship. The summer intern will work as part of a commercial client coverage deal team. You may get exposure to all Underwriting & Portfolio Management responsibilities including financial analysis, financial covenant tracking, credit risk assessment, and preparation of credit approval requests. In this position you will partner with Portfolio Managers (PM), Credit Analysts (CA), and Relationship Managers (RMs) in new loan transaction underwriting, loan monitoring, and business development activities:
Monitor for the receipt and accuracy of client reporting including financial statements, covenant compliance certificates, and collateral requirements.
Assist in credit analysis, preparation of deal screening memos, new credit approval requests, loan closings, and annual reviews of existing client relationships. This includes learning / preparing financial models, written financial analysis, conducting industry research, and preparing written summaries of industry issues, risks, opportunities, and the competitive environment, communicating questions or observations, and utilizing internal risk and return models and loan systems.

Performs market analysis and assists in the development of commercial client prospect lists as needed. Works with the Relationship Managers to assist in the preparation of client presentations.

Responsibilities
This role may be located in the West Chester, OH office or remotely in KY, WV, IN, MI, WI, IA, ND, SD or surrounding states, and will underwrite and maintain renewal portfolio in assigned book of business including all post issuance transactions. (Policy changes, cancels, reinstates, reinsurance, etc). Underwrites renewal business within authority to maintain profitability in accordance with rate and retention company standards.
Responsible for monitoring renewal production, profitability, and maintaining agency relationships.
Utilize underwriting expertise and authority guidelines to independently make decisions within granted letter of authority on renewal accounts. Establishes terms and pricing to be provided. Negotiates terms with retail agents.
Review and underwrite fast track renewals based upon authority granted and provides guidance as needed to associate underwriting team.
Makes sounds risk and pricing decisions that achieve profitable loss ratios.
Maintain underwriting quality score of 90% or greater. Document underwriting file to support acceptability and pricing in accordance with company guidelines.
Achieve designated customer service standards.
Provide detailed guidance to associate underwriting team to ensure policy is delivered constant with quoted terms and conditions in accordance with established guidelines relative to policy construction.
Review all post transaction requests for acceptability up to the authority granted.
Review inspections to confirm accounts written are consistent with preliminary underwriting information and take action needed based on found information.
Utilize various underwiring tools to determine acceptable risk characteristics accurate classifications, insurance to value, calculate rates, etc.)
Review policy audits and refer to leadership as needed.
Assist with training, mentoring and coaching of less experienced team members on the underwriting floor.
Proficient coverage knowledge in Commercial General Liability, Commercial Property and Commercial Excess Liability. Utilize coverage understanding to assess potential exposure and make judgements regarding appropriate form attachment and fill-in form verbiage on renewal accounts.
Ability to take on special projects as needed to advance underwriting knowledge across underwriting departments
Consults with new business departments on territorial expertise regarding market conditions, trends and state-specific nuances that may impact underwriting decision to territory teams.
Effectively communicates (written/verbal) information to both internal and external customers to ensure our standards of excellence are maintained.

Progression toward certification in area of expertise preferred; appropriate certifications could include Associate in Underwriting (AU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Program in General Insurance (INS) or Associate of Risk Management (ARM).
P&C Insurance License preferred, but not required for hire. Candidates must get their P&C license within their first 6 months of employment.
Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
