- The ideal candidate will have run a web press for a minimum of 5 years, Preferably a Non Heat-set Newspaper press.
- Must be quality and production minded, with some managerial skills.
- Required to be organized, able to communicate well with others and have calculated decision making skills.
The candidate Will:
- Report directly to the Pressroom Manager and will coordinate with them on printing and production related issues such as, quality, maintenance and schedule of production. As well as personnel issues on their shift.
- Train, coach, and counsel staff, make work assignments, and address employee questions as needed
- Inspect and monitor operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
- Ensure the growth of the business and be committed to the company’s success
- Have a minimum of five years web press experience (Some management experience is a plus)
- Demonstrate the ability to both understand and operate Non Heat-set Web printing equipment
- Demonstrate a mechanical ability to diagnose and repair pressroom equipment
- Have experience with workflow management, basic computer operation and a commitment to waste reduction and operational efficiency
The position offers a competitive compensation package:
Ranging from $25-$28 per hour depending on experience. 6 Paid Holidays, plus 3 sick days (2 with doctor excuse). Health Insurance offered (single with 50/50 premium split)
Current equipment we are running:
- 16 Unit Heidelberg Mercury Web Newspaper Press with two J35 Heidelberg folders.
- Fully automated with AVT Mercury register control and Ink controls from a touch screen monitor.
- Press is also equipped with Auto Ink levelers on every fountain.
