The Virginia Education Science Training (VEST) program is seeking a Student Administrative Assistant. VEST is a doctoral fellowship program that has over 25 students from the School of Education and Human Development (SEHD), Sociology, Psychology and Economics departments. In addition to VEST with doctoral students, we will be engaging undergraduates from outside of UVA in on-line summer programming. This person would assist the staff in VEST activities and support development efforts of on-line summer programming for undergraduate students.
The position requires the student to work 10-15 hours per week from September 2021 to August 2022 (with opportunities to continue into the fall depending on work availability). The scheduling of hours will be flexible depending on program activities and needs. The individual filling this position is expected to possess the following skills and abilities:
Possess strong oral and written communication skills. Be well organized and have an attention to detail. Have demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Responsibilities will likely change over the course of the summer or year and may include:
Assisting with program coordination and communication. Assisting in coordination of events, including workshops and undergraduate activities. Website maintenance Organization and maintenance of paper and electronic files. Working in teams with faculty, staff, and other students.
This position is primarily remote, but will require assisting with in-person events, weekly meetings and communication with the program coordinator. Interested applicants should submit a resume and letter of interest, including confirmation of availability, with their application.
