Methodology – How We Determined The Worst Cities For Women In Wyoming
Each city was evaluated based on four key factors:
- Percentage of Women in Management (Lower percentages are worse)
- Percentage of Women in Poverty (Higher percentages are worse)
- Women’s Earnings as a Percentage of Men’s Earnings (Lower percentages are worse)
- Percentage of Uninsured Women (Lower percentages are worse)
To assess the income gap between women and men in each city, we utilized data from the American Community Survey. The analysis involved dividing median male income by median female income to determine the earnings ratio.
For the poverty statistics, we focused on women living alone, as this demographic often faces greater economic challenges. Data was sourced from the ACS to ensure accuracy.
We also reviewed the representation of women in management roles to gauge opportunities for advancement. This metric is critical, as greater representation often correlates with better workplace conditions for women.
Lastly, we examined the percentage of uninsured women in each city, again relying on ACS data for our insights.
Only cities in Wyoming with populations exceeding 5,000 were included in this analysis.
