The 100 Houston Companies That Received the Most PPP Funds

The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), a cornerstone of the $2 trillion CARES Act, was designed to support small businesses by helping them retain employees and cover operational costs. As of 2026, the impact of these funds is still evident as many businesses continue to recover and adapt in the evolving economic landscape.

In Texas, the PPP facilitated over 389,000 loans totaling more than $31 billion, which helped secure approximately 4.5 million jobs statewide. Specifically in Houston, the program saved 736,905 jobs with loans amounting to approximately $5 billion, with 70% of these funds allocated to loans exceeding $150,000.

Which businesses in Houston received the highest loan amounts? To identify the top recipients, we analyzed data from the Small Business Administration. How We Determined the Companies That Received the Most PPP Loans in Houston, TX

We analyzed 4.8 million records from the Small Business Administration’s loan data, filtering specifically for companies located in Houston, Texas.

Loans below $150,000 had specific amounts, while loans above this threshold were categorized into ranges:

  • $5-10 million
  • $2-5 million
  • $1-2 million
  • $350,000-1 million
  • $150,000-350,000

For each range, we used the lowest amount to ensure that companies received at least that much. Companies were then ranked based on the number of jobs retained, meaning a company securing 500 jobs from a loan in the $5-10 million range would rank higher than one that secured only 100 jobs. Some companies have not yet submitted employee retention numbers, as the reporting deadline is still open.

In Houston, 14 companies fell within the maximum loan range, each reporting 500 retained employees, which is reflected in the top entries listed above.
