Austin, TX — home of the Texas Longhorns and the SXSW Festival, the capital and fourth largest city of Texas, and referred to as both the “City of the Violet Crown” and the “Live Music Capital of the World.”
Austin is also home to an area called the Silicon Hills, so-called due to the large number of tech and startup companies that have flooded into the area since the 1990s. In addition to jobs, these companies have caused lots of highly educated young workers to move to the city, which in the last twenty years or so has transformed Austin from a country city with a low-cost of living in a sort of southern oasis for hipsters and yuppies of all kinds.
Today, Austin is still one of the fastest-growing cities in America. But with all the tech companies cropping up every day, it begs the question: which companies are the best for employees to work for?
We were curious — so, using company scores from websites that aggregate reviews like GlassDoor and Indeed as a baseline, we created our own list of some of the best companies to work for that were based within a 30-mile commute to Austin, TX.
The full list can be found further down, but first, here’s a quick look at the top five.
