PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Instructs and supervises students in the didactic, laboratory and clinical phases of their education in Respiratory Care to prepare them for an Associate Degree in Respiratory Care Therapy as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

Provides didactic instruction and evaluation for students.
Provides instruction in skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and provide the care needed.
Provides laboratory demonstration, instruction and pre-clinical evaluation for students.
During clinical instruction, time at Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals is required.
Provides clinical demonstration, instruction and evaluation for students as both formative feedback and terminal competency testing.
Develops course outlines, objectives and evaluation tools for designated courses that are consistent with accreditation requirements and college policy.
Provides academic counseling as needed to students during all phases of the educational program.
Participates in the Advisory Board, Admission Committee, faculty meetings and in-services as assigned.
Maintains student records that are consistent with accreditation requirements, college policy, and hospital policy.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Hold and maintain a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current Delaware state license. Bachelor's degree required in Respiratory Care or health related field.
Minimum of four years Full-time experience as an RRT required.
Current critical care experience and teaching experience either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC -accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs are required for this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
