What success looks like in this role:

As an Application Support Engineer you will provide technical support regarding the complex DCJ project implementations of Stealth Identity.

Our Auburn Hills, MI location is seeking Application and Vehicle Test Engineer to join our team.

THE POSITION
The responsibilities of this position are to validate system requirements of vehicle connectivity functionality and be the customer technical interface to trouble shoot vehicle issues. The candidate will be working with a regional and global development team to test core Continental technologies. Systems knowledge will be utilized to trouble shoot related issues as they arise in development and launch of Continental products in the vehicle platforms.

Core Responsibilities:
1. Act as the customer technical Interface for system performance and functionality of the embedded software in automotive products including performance of diagnostics and software integration
2. Validate vehicles for the customer, trouble shoot issues and feed input back to design team
make recommendations with evaluated risks, cost improvements, and timing to improve system and components
3. Create, manage, and support Vehicle Functional Test Plan development as well as Calibration process and complete project tasks by target dates as defined in timing plans
4. Actively contribute to setting up and maintaining the test environment (e.g., SW tools, test automation, test benches)
5. Track and manage problem reports for the project, while following a structured problem-solving approach
6. Derive Test cases from requirements documents; in addition, outside the box thinking will be necessary when generating test cases to cover scenarios not explicitly covered in the requirements documents. Manage selected requirements and test cases in tool suite
7. Ensure designs meet product specification, customer specifications, and customer requirements

Additional Responsibilities:
•Perform component and system testing on the bench, static in-vehicle testing and conducting test drives.
•Analyze data from Continental or OEM engineering to aid in the trouble shooting or reproducing field issues (including CAN log / vehicle log file analysis)
•Train and guide other team members on project and departmental teams such as residents supporting test or trouble shooting activities

•Strong vehicle testing background and skill set to perform regression tests as well as system integration tests
•Strong communication skills to create a positive working relationship with a culturally diverse development team
•Knowledge of vehicle distributed networks

Position Overview

Senior Protection & Control Application Test Engineer is responsible for developing test plans and procedures based on product specifications (marketing requirement documents, product requirement documents, design algorithms, logic flowcharts, and application scenarios) in the power system protection, control, and automation areas. Conduct product functional testing based on the test plans and procedures, document test results and provide feedback to engineering team. Provide guidance and mentoring to junior level test engineers and technicians.

Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Analyze product design requirements to develop test plans and procedures.

Consult with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and test software.

Develop System level tests, test plans and procedures.

Write, maintain, and execute automatic test software using Omicron's Test Suite.

Provide maintenance by performing enhancements or modifications to existing Omicron test modules.

Perform design verification of new or existing products in accordance with the test plans, test procedures, and product specification using automated/manual testing.

Analyze test results and compare with calculated values in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, provide feedback on test results to design engineers.

Confer with engineers and/or project team leaders to resolve identified noncompliance items and testing problems such as product or system malfunctions.

Accurately record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test methods.

Maintain design verification records in accordance with ISO-9001 and company policies procedures.

Coordinate installation of software systems.

Develop and review test procedures.

Work with Product Support Engineers in identifying production type tests.

Work with other team members to accomplish goals.

Design to meet the operational and performance requirements of overall system.

Perform Hardware type tests to industry standards.

Comply with all work rules, including but not limited to, the Company's safety and attendance policies.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Skills and Experience

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

PC's, 3-Phase test sets, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, AC/DC power supplies, hand solder tools, electric drill, manual assembly tools, miscellaneous in-house custom designed test equipment, computer, printer, telephone, copier.

SKILLS

Familiar with the operation of PC using Windows operating system. Familiar with office 365(MS word and excel).

Familiar with communication techniques (RS232, RS485, Ethernet, USB, fiber optics).

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions supervisors and managers. Ability to write reports and procedures.

Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques.
