Direct and coordinate the work of outside craftsmen and ensure that the craftsmen follow all applicable safe work practices and appropriate craft work practices.
Solve and assist in solving specific instrumentation and electrical maintenance problems by coordinating available information and expertise and implementing the fix to ensure continued efficient mill operation.
Ensure that a safe working environment within the I&E portion Maintenance Department is maintained. While responsible for their own work, they must be aware of and work to correct unsafe work practices of other personnel in the facility.
Respond to emergency breakdowns in a timely manner consistent with the appropriate conditions (weather, hours worked, safety, and working conditions, etc.)
Work together with all individuals in the plant to ensure that repairs are identified timely and completed with minimum downtime.
Balance the short term and long-term needs for I&E repairs in the mill so that appropriate repairs are applied to problems to ensure the viability of this facility.
Work with various levels of people in the mill during normal day-to-day and crisis/stressful situations when various people will have conflicting goals.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance role, in a manufacturing or paper converting environment (Welding Certification preferred).
Experience with repairs of variable speed drives, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, valves (manual, control, and automatic on/off), PLC systems, DCS systems, transformers, lighting systems, electronic controls, various types of field instrumentation including but not limited to level, flow, and consistency controls.
Experience with maintaining equipment in a heavy industrial environment.
Knowledgeable in grounding and shielding practices to ensure signal integrity, safety, and compliance in electrical and electronic systems.
Possess skills in electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and control areas.
Familiarity with multimeters, oscilloscopes, deadweight testers, pneumatic calibrators, mergers, motor diagnostic equipment, and other associated instrumentation to perform diagnostics and troubleshooting of station equipment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable working in a production environment that may involve heat, noise, and dust.
