In general, all Electrician roles are required to repair, install, replace, program, and test all electrical circuits, and equipment. Periodically perform or assist others in routine to moderately complex repairs or installation of automatic electrical and electronic controls.
What you will do:
Perform routine electrical/electronic preventative maintenance on mill equipment
Responsible for the repair, modification, and maintenance of a variety of electrical and electronic equipment
Perform tasks like wiring circuits, replacing components, and repairing electronic devices
Performs test reading using several different instruments, including multi-meter and Megger.
Remain current in technical changes or equipment designs by attending classes as needed.
Work rotating shifts, which includes nights, holidays, weekends, and overtime as scheduled or required.
Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment and completing all required training.

What you need to be successful:
High School Diploma or GED
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
Background in Electrical fundamentals
Must have knowledge in 3 phase and single-phase power distribution systems, motor controls, wiring, and troubleshooting of such systems.
Experience with 480-volt power and logic circuits
Strong computer, math, analytical, and planning skills
Must be able to understand and follow electrical schematics proficiently without supervision
Familiar with machine control systems
Ability to troubleshoot (complex) machine control systems
Identify the features and functions of controllers
Describe and compare pneumatic and electronic controllers
Identify the signal path through a control circuit
A combination of higher education and experience will be taken into consideration
Eligible to legally work in the United States without employer sponsorship

What you need to be successful:

About this Position

Repair and maintain all types of interior and exterior electrical systems and equipment, to include panel boards, breakers, fuses, fire and security systems, public address systems, lighting, and mechanical and HVAC equipment.
Repair and maintain all types of motors and controllers to include bearings, seals, motor leads, rebuild shafts, troubleshoot motor integrity, and motor drives.
Must be willing to coordinate and be resourceful in working with colleagues and project managers in building estimates, designs, and materials lists.
Install all types of interior and exterior electrical systems and equipment, new conduit, and wiring, to include panel boards, breakers, lighting, and mechanical equipment.
Inspect/repair/replace variable frequency drives and 3-phase pumps at any HP, change out pumps/motors greater than 1 HP, and single-phase.
Ability to interpret blueprints and schematic drawings.
The employee in this position may be required to work overtime after 4 pm, shift work, and be on a rotating standby for emergencies during non-business hours, including when the university is closed and/or other events after 5 pm on weekdays, weekends, and holidays when management deems necessary. The ability to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management, regardless of weather, will be required.
Perform other assigned duties related to operations, maintenance, and renovations to buildings and equipment, such as preventive maintenance, light duty carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and other miscellaneous repairs and maintenance activities; and respond to emergency and urgent work.
Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and not for personal use. This position regularly stands, bends, stoops, lifts above the shoulders, is heavy in manual labor, and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally.

Required Qualifications

Physical Demands: This position is required to perform electrical work from ladders, scaffolds, platforms, and other cramped and hard-to-reach places. The incumbent may be exposed to electrical shock, spark and arc hazard, and other health hazards. If the incumbent is assigned to perform electrical work in remote locations, the incumbent may be required to walk, hike, or drive over rough and uneven terrain. The incumbent is expected to lift and/or carry items up to 50 pounds, and occasionally exceeding 50 pounds in weight.
Working Conditions: Work is both indoors and outdoors. Depending on the geography of the park unit assigned, work may take place at elevations ranging from sea level up to 10,000 feet. About this Position
Installation and alteration of new and existing electrical systems and equipment.
Repair and maintain all types of interior and exterior electrical systems and equipment.
Repair and maintain all types of motor and motor controllers. Installation, repair, and maintenance of primary high voltage distribution systems both overhead and underground.
Employee in this position is required to be on rotating standby for emergencies and/or any other event after 5 p.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays.
Employee in this position is required to work overtime when work requires. Must be able to perform snow and ice removal tasks, and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management regardless of the weather conditions.
Some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies. Emergencies frequently involve difficult working conditions. This may require work during nonbusiness hours which include evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and when the University is closed.
Position may involve exposure to the following physical danger and/or environmental hazards: Noise, wet vaults, and tunnels, working in rainstorms, snow, and dusty conditions. Seasonal considerations include heat of summer and cold during the winter. Working with high voltage, cramped areas, pole climbing, and confined spaces. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally.
Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (hard hat, vest, gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use.
Required to work safely and promote a safe environment.

Distribution Electrician I: Two years of prior successful work experience in electrical or powerline work in a related field.
Distribution Electrician II: Four years of prior successful work experience in electrical or powerline work in a related field.
Distribution Electrician III: Six years of prior successful work experience in electrical or powerline work in a related field.
