Jewish Community Center assistant aquatics director job description

  1. Maintain records and statistics with respect to the JCC Aquatics Program, (i.e.: pool schedule, class schedules, chemical records, maintenance schedule of equipment, facility usage, etc.)
  2. Maintain proper staffing of lifeguards, Water Aerobics instructors, office personnel and assist the director with JSplash Swim Instructors as needed. Utilize When2 Work as appropriate for scheduling purposes.
  3. In conjunction with the Aquatics Director direct and oversee the onboarding and payroll processes in ADP for all Aquatic Personnel.
  4. Responsible for maintaining equipment functionality for aquatics facilities including indoor and outdoor pools and the Adult Locker Room amenities.
  5. Responsible for ordering supplies needed for the Aquatics Department year-round.
  6. Responsible for the overall operation of the JCC Outdoor Pool leading up to and post season including opening and closing of the facilities, hiring of staff, deck and equipment maintenance, furniture maintenance and storage.
  7. Create an ongoing outdoor pool experience for all members utilizing the facility such as raft night, movie night, BBQ’s etc.
  8. Maintain Daxko Operations for all Aquatic related programming in conjunction with the Aquatics Director.
  9. Work alongside the Aquatics Director to ensure a successful JSplash Swim School experience for the customer with regards to utilizing technology as a means to streamline the scheduling and communication tool for the school (Player Space).
  10. Complete and maintain the JSplash instructor certification to assist in times when staffing issues present themselves. Teach a minimum of 3 instructing hours per week.
  11. Assist the Aquatics Director with the JCC Sharks Swim Team with regards to hiring of coaching staff, scheduling, meet planning and execution, end of year celebration and budget.
  12. Maintain ongoing, regular communication with participants in aquatics programs as it relates to the to the Aquatics Dept.
  13. In conjunction with the aquatic’s director and director of Fitness and Wellness, coordinate the scheduling of aquatics facility rentals.
  14. In conjunction with the aquatic’s director and director of Fitness and Wellness, prepare Aquatic budget, along with department goals.
  15. In conjunction with the Fitness and Wellness Committee, create innovative NEW classes and programming opportunities within Health and Wellness and Aquatics Department.
  16. Provide supervision and ongoing training and certifications (American Red Cross, CPR, life guarding, Instructor, etc.) for the public, lifeguards, swim instructors, swim coaches and other Fitness and Wellness staff.
  17. Participate in the regular Fitness and Wellness Manager on Duty coverage; daily supervision of Health and Wellness facilities, programs, staff, etc. (1-2 nights per week)
  18. Coordinate / Instruct the ECE winter/spring swim classes and the summer Early Childhood Camp program
  19. Along with Sodexo maintenance department – provide ongoing maintenance to Fitness and Wellness equipment and facilities as it pertains to the Aquatics Department. Report unclean conditions, safety hazards and malfunctioning.
  20. Assist in the promotion of the Fitness and Wellness department and integration with other JCC departments to ensure the productive, effective, and efficient operation of the Agency.
  21. As a professional representative of the agency, maintain proper relationships with public and private agencies for the purpose of developing inter-agency programs.
  22. Additional responsibilities may be added periodically based upon the needs of the Fitness and Wellness department and other departments of the Katz JCC.
  23. It is essential that all staff participate in a variety of agency wide activities. Staff should be knowledgeable about our agency and be able to respond appropriately with accurate information

COMMITTEE WORK:

In conjunction with the Aquatics Director, Fitness & Wellness director, Fitness and Wellness Committee and Aquatic Sub-Committee develop quality Aquatic programs and classes, i.e., swim lessons, classes, water fitness, JCC swim team, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or related field
  • Aquatics Management experience of a minimum of 2 years
  • Lifeguard & CPR / First Aid / AED certified
  • CPO certification required or within 60 days of hire
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor required or obtained within 60 days of hire
  • Proven ability to supervise / manage aquatic / recreation staff, facility, and program
  • Working knowledge of pool maintenance and equipment,
  • Experience with swim class instruction, swim team, etc.
  • Strong management experience and ability to work with a large team of peers
  • Experience with CRM’s (e.g., Daxko, Salesforce, Swim Wins) and Microsoft office required
