Position requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in HVAC and Plumbing design Candidate will work within Hazen and Sawyer’s HVAC/Plumbing Group. The candidate can expect to work closely with more experienced HVAC Engineers to perform HVAC and Plumbing designs. The work will focus on municipal water and wastewater projects including planning, preliminary and final designs, and providing engineering services for projects in construction. It is preferable to have experience in the HVAC systems related to water and wastewater facilities, although relevant experience in municipal, industrial or commercial buildings and facilities is acceptable. The candidate should enjoy working within a team environment, and seek to develop HVAC and Plumbing design skills.

Education and Experience requirements:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
  • Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing.
  • A minimum of (3) years of experience performing heating, ventilating, cooling, and plumbing design for municipal, commercial or industrial facilities.
  • A PE license is preferred, or the candidate must have plans of obtaining their PE.
  • Experience with Revit and other CAD skills is preferred.

Description Assists the Engineering Manager with the management and supervision of a staff of engineers responsible for the sanitary sewer collection system, County facilities, capital construction projects, transportation projects, and utilities systems for the Department of Public Works. Provides engineering and project management for transportation, facilities, sanitary sewer, water, stormwater, and other Capital Improvements projects. Provides outreach and problem solving to citizens, outside agencies, County leaders and others.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience in Civil Engineering, to include at least 3 years of project management experience, and some utility design and field experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Registration as a professional engineer (P.E.) in the Commonwealth of Virginia
