The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Supervisor in leading and supervising the department. This person must be able to maintain the stability of the department when the Supervisor is unable to be present.
Highlights of your role

In tandem with Supervisor, provides employees with tools, information, knowledge and support to meet production goals
Partners with Supervisor on process changes and continuous improvement projects
Approachable, Listens, and Encourages to ensure a positive culture; Creating a great place to work
Assists with the training, performance reviews, and disciplines of team members
Supports daily productivity by balancing labor against goals
Communicates and involves appropriate support departments when needed
Meets and maintains quality measures
Meets and maintains safety measures (i.e. OSHA incident rate)
Investigate quality concerns to determine root cause
Prevent quality issues from leaving facility

Supervisory experience preferred but not required
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to multi task, remain organized, problem solve, and prioritize daily responsibilities
Ability to effectively communicate; both verbal and written
Possess interpersonal skills; ability to motivate, develop and coach employees
Ability to understand department goals/metrics and communicate and execute plans established to meet those goals

$1000 Hiring Bonus

The primary responsibility is to assist the Production Supervisor with the coordination of daily Production activities and assume backup production responsibilities in the Production Supervisor's absence.

Essential duties and responsibilities

* Assist the Production Supervisor with the coordination of activities and schedules for all department employees
* Oversee production reporting activities for accuracy and enter any manual data to the system
* Assume Production Supervisor responsibilities in Production Supervisor's absence
* Assist with troubleshooting of production equipment
* Inform the Production Supervisor of all activities/issues regarding line employees
* Participate in inventory taking and reconciliation
* Assist with maintaining a safe and efficient environment in the production area and the rest of the warehouse
* Assist Supervisor with production and staffing planning

Secondary Functions

* Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned

Qualifications/Requirements

* Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
* 1 - 2 years prior leadership experience preferred
* High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
* Computer experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
* Must be able to read, write and speak English; Bilingual (Spanish/English)
* Must have a working knowledge of general Production/Manufacturing operations, food industry exp.preferred
* Must be flexible with hours, a possibility for OT
* Ability to lift 55lbs (anything over 55lbs, team lift)
* Must follow all WF GMP's and work consistently with all food safety, quality and sanitation requirements
* Forklift experience a plus

Skills/Abilities

* Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural documents
* Understand the basics of scale operations, weights, and pallet measurements
* Demonstrate good leadership and teamwork skills
* Ability to prioritize, learn quickly, and multi-task
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
* Mechanical skills preferred
* Flexibility to adapt to an ever-changing environment
* Ability to work overtime and change schedules as needed to meet company requirements

* Provides and direction to operators and set-up employees, ensuring that safety, production, quality and quantity standards are maintained.
Required Education and Experience:

* Minimum High School diploma
* Experience with automotive schedule attainment
* Experience with scheduling and producing WIP assemblies
* 7-10 years related experience in a manufacturing environment; preferably automotive
* Knowledge of Quality standards IATF 16949
* Leadership experience an asset
* 7-10 years' experience with data collection and analysis
* Proven ability to motivate teams to achieve high standards and accomplish set outcomes

Essential Functions:

* Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook.
* Mentor and guide the team unit
* Provide hands-on leadership
* Ensure that the production area of responsibility is producing a good quality part at appropriate rates
* Analyze scrap data to identify and correct manufacturing problems
* Ensure production area meets or exceeds labor standards
* Ensure the attainment of daily production schedules
* Maintain production related records
* Provide continuous improvement ideas
* Oversee and ensure employees are provided with training on all aspects of the job
* Communicate and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
* Initiate corrective actions to the Managers and follow up on recommendations for correcting defects
* Conducts Operator performance appraisals and issues employee coaching/disciplines
* Ensure that all machine/equipment are fully manned when scheduled
* Ensures pre-start inspections are conducted and makes sure that all areas are tidy and organized
* Assists in the production planning process
* Ensures plant security
* Respecting and understanding of the Customer/supplier relationship
* Adopt a common sense approach to identifying and addressing problems and control weaknesses

Working Conditions

* Majority of work will be on the Plant Floor (PPE required)
* Some office environment
