Assistant web developer job description

UVA Facilities Management's communications team is looking for a student assistant to provide support to the webmaster. The ideal candidate should be an excellent communicator who is experienced in maintaining websites.
Configure and maintain custom HTML websites. Update web content and manage customer requests. Assist in website development projects. Other duties related to the role as needed.


Assignment Dates: Fall 2022/Spring 2023 and could be renewed each academic year

Position Location: Skipwith Hall. Some remote work, some location and office work required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Current undergrad or graduate UVA student

Experience in custom coding HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. Ability to analyze user needs to implement website content, graphics, performance and capacity. Experience in Microsoft and Adobe CC applications (Word, Teams, Photoshop, etc.). Experience using GitHub. Must be able to work independently to complete projects in a timely manner. Strong problem-solving skills. Exceptional team player with a willingness to learn new skills and ideas. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong work ethic and enthusiasm.


STRONGLY PREFERRED

Graphic design experience, including creating and optimizing web graphics. Photo editing and retouching experience. Experience in web accessibility and UX design. Experience managing social media content.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
