Astec company history timeline

1972

Astec Industries, Inc. was founded in 1972 with the vision to apply creative thinking and state-of-the-art technology to traditionally low-tech industries, bolstered by a corporate culture renowned for putting customer service first.

1987

1987 Rival Barber-Greene Co., as well as Telsmith, are acquired.

1989

Astec made an offer to buy another rival, Kansas City asphalt plant manufacturer Standard Havens Inc., in 1989, but canceled the offer, judging the price too high.

1990

Astec Industries had posted sales of $135 million in 1990; it had a net loss of $13 million.

1996

Astec formed its own finance company in June 1996.

1998

Johnson Crushers was acquired in 1998.

2003

2003 Case New Holland trencher business is acquired.

2005

A new $287 billion federal highway act signed into law in 2005 funded highway construction for six years and promised work for the company.

2007

At the beginning of 2007 the three Astec, Inc. service groups-plant service, burner service and controls service-merged giving us one group working together to give customers the benefits of 14 in house technicians with a combined 284 years of service with Astec.

2014

Under the guidance of former President and CEO Don Brock, who led the company until his son Ben Brock took the helm in 2014, Astec Industries mushroomed into a conglomerate with 19 subsidiaries and hundreds of employees based in every corner of the world.
