This role is essential for creating high-quality beverages, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and welcoming café environment. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and serve coffee and other beverages that meet high-quality standards. Understand and implement different brewing methods, ingredients, and equipment to prepare tea and coffee drinks, such as espressos, lattes, cappuccinos, and other custom orders. Engage with customers, take orders, and process payments while offering friendly and efficient service. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning tables, counters, and coffee machines. Manage inventory of products and supplies to maintain stock levels and minimize waste. Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and customers. Qualifications: Previous experience as a Barista or in a coffee shop setting preferred, but not required. Strong knowledge of coffee brewing methods, beverage preparation, and sanitation principles. Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide friendly customer service. Ability to work quickly and accurately in a busy environment. Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Team-oriented mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers. Primary Purpose: Provide exceptional customer service while making hand-crafted, quality beverages. Baristas take orders and make coffee, tea and other drinks to customer specifications. Baristas will also operate cash registers, field customer complaints and answer questions, while working to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of beverages. Baristas are also expected to prepare and serve appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements. General requirements of the position include those listed below. Qualifications: Education/Certification: * Food Handler Certification Special Knowledge/Skills: * Ability to understand food preparation and safety instructions. * Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures. * Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment and tools. * Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations. * Use Point of Sale system. Maintain a clean and organized storage area. Safety and Sanitation: * Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards. * Follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety. * Keep garbage collection containers and areas neat and sanitary. * Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. * Follow established HACCP procedures. * Maintain personal appearance and hygiene. * Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Other: * Handle and record cashier functions accurately. * Help record food requisitions and order necessary supplies. * Maintain daily food production records. * Promote teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members. * Conduct monthly inventories of food and supplies. * Must be present regularly in person. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Immediately and warmly welcomes customers and team members, ensuring a positive, welcoming, and engaging environment. Abides by service speed requirements without compromising beverage quality or customer service, including third-party orders. Prepares and serves coffee and coffee-less beverages and food items using retail equipment, such as espresso machines and convection ovens. Maintains clean and organized work and customer areas, following health and safety guidelines. Promotes new coffee offerings and seasonal specials to enhance brand awareness and sales. Handles accurate cash and credit transactions, including daily cash deposits when required. Supports training initiatives and mentors new team members during their onboarding process. Manages daily, weekly, and monthly tasks assigned by the leadership team. Handles customer complaints and resolve issues professionally and promptly. Assists in inventory management and restocks supplies as needed, including product displays. Conducts line busting during peak periods to expedite customer orders, which may require exposure to various elements. Proficient at working independently during shifts with self-directed initiative and minimal supervision. Always follows Black Rock Coffee Bar's policies and procedures diligently.
