Responsibilities:
Read batch cards to determine product specifications, processing information, technical information.
Record production and test data for each food product batch, such as: ingredients and lot numbers used, temperatures, mixing speeds, test results.
Monitor and regulate gauges, recording instruments, flow meters, and thermometers to correctly adjust the addition of raw materials, mixing temperatures, mixing speeds, etc. to maintain product quality, and ensure safe and efficient operation.
Operate and tend machines to mix or blend any of a wide variety of food products such as edible oils, dressings, margarines, spreads, shortenings, cooking Sherries, vinegars, cooking wines, etc.
Patrol work area to detect leaks, equipment malfunctions, and to monitor operating conditions. Report any deficiencies to Production Supervisor / Maintenance Supervisor.
Examine product samples during production in order to evaluate necessary in-process testing requirements. Sample in-process products for the quality assurance laboratory for testing. Test samples of products to ensure compliance with specifications, using test equipment. Document results in required log books and/or batch records. Report any deviations of results to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Modify manufacturing directives with written authorization by the Quality Assurance Department by adjusting mixing time cycles and/or addition of ingredients.
Responsible for having knowledge of transfer valves, pumps, etc. which transfers bulk product from manufacturing tanks to run tanks.
Direct other workers who are assisting in the batch making processes.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Relevant Experience: Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment
Schedule: 11PM - 7:30AM

Job Duties of the Batch Maker:
- Accurately document all batching information on the Batch Control Records
- Work with QA to promote quality, efficiency and reduce defects by following all batching procedures
- Work with inventory personnel for delivery of requisitioned materials
- Reports to Production Manager for daily assignments and scheduling of batches
- Enlist the help of "Technical Services Support" for batching or formula issues
- Batch Makers will be cross functionally trained to manufacture formulas in each plant
Qualifications for the Batch Maker:
- Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of compounding materials in a batch process environment
- Basic chemical knowledge is helpful but not required
- Should be capable of handling 55-gallon drums, bags or other containers
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
Shift for the Batch Maker:
- 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday 3:30pm-12am
- May need to train on 1st shift for a few weeks

Pay for the Batch Maker:
- Starting pay will be $17-$22/hour based on experience

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform supply operation including preparation and setup of raw materials, soap stock and equipment.
- Operate the amalgamators and supporting equipment of the production line and produce soap at the specified quantity and quality levels.
- Maintain product quality standards by observation, sampling and operating equipment necessary to monitor product quality.
- Maintain the necessary production accounting records and reports to include batch card, process control and quality.
- Properly package all supplies to be returned to inventory or scrapped.
- Comply with procedures, methods, and standards in adherence with Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP).
- Knowledge of characteristics of soap bases and raw materials, including moisture levels, additives and techniques for incorporating theses additives into the final product.
- General knowledge of soap converting equipment, stamping and packaging equipment and finished product handling equipment.
- Operating details of the production processing equipment.
- Operating details of the product handling equipment.
- Understanding of quality parameters as they relate to finished product.
- Feedback is essential to good performance. Two-way communication is encouraged between Supervisor and Operator on a continuing basis.
- Maintain an acceptable level of orderliness and cleanliness in areas of assigned work.
- Understanding of and adherence to machine safety.
Successful candidates will have:
- Experience in manufacturing is not required and training will be provided to the right candidate.
- Ability to follow all Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP's) and Quality Assurance requirements for the company and customers.
- Forklift experience preferred
- CDL is a plus
