Responsibilities
The Executive Underwriter will evaluate (selection and pricing) and maintain (control) risk acceptability and profitability within the company's underwriting guidelines and procedures for commercial risks with a focus on non-admitted General Liability for products and products related risks. Particular focus will be on Manufacturing and Products Liability. Manage and maintain good Wholesale Broker relationships. Meet and maintain the production, profitability, and service standards established for the company. Assist in building appetite and risk selection guidelines for new classes of business to be added according to market place changes and opportunities.
Adhere to underwriting authority level as per on file with Manager.
Gather underwriting information to properly evaluate commercial risks for acceptability within company guidelines. Underwrite for profit.
Meet/Exceed production, profitability, and service targets.
Ability to research and solve more complicated problems and make decisions.
Determine final coverages and pricing for commercial risks.
Review claims and loss information on individual risks. Use this information to identify and re-evaluate accounts and develop strategy for dealing with exposures and frequency issues.
Maintain quality and time standards as established.
Be informed/knowledgeable of industry issues and activities through formal educational processes to develop underwriting skills.
Identify and cultivate brokers with new business opportunities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred industry designations such as CPCU, ASLI, ARM, etc.

Nautilus Insurance is seeking a Claims Examiner I or II to join our team. This role can be located in our Scottsdale office or remotely for a highly qualified candidate.
The Claims Examiner I's primary job function includes efficiently and effectively handling primarily basic, commercial first-party property and/or third-party general liability losses in a “paperless” environment. The assigned caseload may include up to one-half intermediate-level losses. An ability to communicate both verbally and in written form in a prompt, courteous and professional manner is essential.
• Reviews and sets up new loss assignments in a timely manner in compliance with Department guidelines and best practices.
• Establishes appropriate initial loss and expense reserves and continues to regularly evaluate the file for adequacy, accuracy and adherence to reserving guidelines.
• Analyzes and interprets policy language in conjunction with specific loss facts to reach appropriate coverage decisions.
• Drafts frequent coverage correspondence, including reservation of rights and coverage disclaimers in compliance with various state statutes and regulations.
• Composes a variety of other detailed correspondence to insureds, claimants, attorneys, agents and Regulatory agencies.
• Proactively manages claim files from inception to closure, including identification and investigation of coverage, liability and damage issues, determination and efficient execution of an appropriate plan of action, and prompt, economical file resolution, in compliance with Department guidelines and best practices.
• Appropriately and clearly documents all claim file activity, including current strategy, plan of action and exit plan in file notes.
• Consistently demonstrates coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation and negotiation skills at a basic and frequently higher level.
• Directs and controls the activities and costs of numerous outside vendors including independent adjusters, defense counsel and coverage counsel.
• Effectively presents and discusses loss facts and issues in roundtable discussions to peers and members of management.
• Composes and transmits in a regular and timely basis Large Loss Reports and other detailed reporting documents as appropriate.
• Manages and monitors file caseload through the use of various resources.
• Obtains all required state adjuster licenses and maintain them as required via compliance with mandatory continuing education requirements.
• Demonstrated experience working with business users.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Occasional participation in projects and initiatives lead by other departments and/or W. R. Berkley companies, including audits, workshops, focus groups, task forces, etc.

Qualifications

The E&S Business Development Underwriter - Strategic Accounts will manage assigned strategic account underwriting to achieve profitable growth, including underwriting new business, renewals, endorsements and other transactions. Your Impact as Healthcare Superintendent
You'll be the on-site field general for healthcare construction projects in the Greater Seattle/Bellevue area, managing everything from daily scheduling to infection control in active hospital environments. Your expertise in ICRA protocols and Washington Department of Health compliance will ensure patients remain safe while critical healthcare infrastructure is built or renovated around them.
What You'll Do:
Oversee daily field operations for healthcare construction projects, managing subcontractor coordination, quality control, and schedule adherence to ensure on-time project delivery in sensitive occupied environments
Enforce "Target Zero" safety culture with comprehensive site safety management, daily toolbox talks, and strict compliance with OSHA/WSHA/L&I regulations to maintain incident-free job sites
Implement and manage ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) protocols to prevent dust migration and contamination in occupied hospital settings, protecting vulnerable patient populations during construction
Coordinate seamlessly with Washington State Department of Health inspectors and Joint Commission requirements, ensuring all healthcare-specific codes and standards are met throughout construction phases
Create and maintain 3-week look-ahead schedules, proactively managing critical path activities and coordinating trades to avoid conflicts in the compressed, fast-paced healthcare environment
Develop and execute critical system shutdown schedules for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tie-ins, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations and patient care
Conduct quality control inspections ensuring work matches specifications and blueprints, addressing deficiencies immediately to maintain the exceptional standards required in healthcare construction
Manage subcontractor performance and resolve on-site conflicts decisively, maintaining productive relationships while holding trades accountable to schedule, safety, and quality expectations
Required Qualifications:
6-10+ years of experience as a Field Superintendent with proven success managing complex commercial construction projects
Healthcare construction expertise with multiple hospital or laboratory projects, including experience in occupied healthcare facilities where patient safety is paramount
Strong working knowledge of ICRA (Infection Control) protocols and practical application in active hospital construction environments
Familiarity with Washington State Department of Health regulations and inspection processes for healthcare construction
Current Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) Certification, or commitment to achieve certification within six months of hire
Working knowledge of all construction trades with ability to read and interpret specifications, blueprints, and shop drawings across disciplines
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Turner, Hensel Phelps, DPR, or similar top-tier general contractors known for healthcare excellence
Previous foreman or journeyman experience in at least one trade, providing hands-on craft knowledge
Demonstrated conflict resolution skills with track record of successfully managing difficult subcontractors or removing non-performing trades from projects
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture (or 4+ years as Assistant Superintendent)

$130,000 - $160,000 base salary plus performance bonus. Responsibilities
Nautilus Insurance is seeking an Underwriter III for our Southeast Region.
The Underwriter III provides support to the underwriting process, making appropriate decisions within own underwriting assigned authority levels. Reviews insurance applications and processes accounts. Projects a professional company image through internal and external customer interaction.
This role can be located in our Scottsdale office on a hybrid schedule or remotely in the Southeast US.
Assesses new and renewal accounts to determine acceptability based upon NIC underwriting guidelines and authority granted.
Reviews new and renewal accounts to verify issuance is in compliance with NIC underwriting guidelines, addresses discrepancies as needed, and enters information into appropriate systems.
Establishes types and limits of coverage to be provided.
Creates, analyzes and interprets data from various systems and underwriting resources.
Responsible for monitoring production, profitability, and maintaining agency relationships.
Collaborates with underwriting team as well as other departments on underwriting philosophy.
Effectively communicates (written/verbal) information to both internal and external customers to ensure our standards of excellence are maintained.
Consults with agency staff to obtain additional information on existing accounts.
Promotes consistency amongst underwriting teams by contributing knowledge and soliciting feedback relative to underwriting philosophy and company goals.
Maintains confidentiality with discretion and integrity with both internal and external information.
Maintains familiarity with state laws and filing requirements within assigned territory to properly transact business within a state.
Consults with underwriting team to determine if reinsurance is needed, and negotiates terms with designated reinsurer companies.
Identifies and recommends changes to policy verbiage when standard text is not appropriate. Seeks manager approval before implementing.
Monitors the amount of insurance in force on a single risk or group of closely related risks. Evaluates possibility of catastrophe losses and takes necessary action, as needed.
Occasionally requested to assist with the development of special programs, underwriting procedures, and educational seminars.
Composes reports and business correspondence such as travel summaries, agendas, and meeting minutes.
Coordinates internal and/or external visits including but not limited to scheduling meetings, confirming staff availability, and arranging meals/entertainment.
Provides guidance and support to less experienced team members within the department.
Travel to agent offices and/or other external events is required.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Strong relationships with brokers in the Southeast United States.
Bachelor's degree; or at least two years of experience in a business or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
AIS, ASLI, AU, and CPCU designations or completion of other insurance related classes is preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience as an insurance underwriter in commercial property and casualty.
Basic knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel and email.
Capability to learn and utilize various underwriting applications to determine accurate classifications and calculate rates and premium charges using approved rating methods.
Excess and Surplus lines background is beneficial.
Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
