Bethel Lutheran Home company history timeline

1963

In 1963 Pastor Robert Borgwardt became Bethel’s ninth Senior Pastor During his tenure radio gave way to television and after two other programs were aired “Worship At Bethel” began on WKOW, TV 27 with telecasts on three out of state stations.

In 1963, Bethel joined the American Lutheran Church, and changed its name from Bethel English Lutheran Church to Bethel Lutheran Church.

1969

In 1969 440 acres were purchased near Dodgeville, and Bethel Horizons was born.

1978

A proposal was passed on June 11, 1978, to refurbish the Fellowship hall at a cost of $28,000.

1991

In 1991 Pastor Bill White, a Wisconsin native became Bethel’s 10th Senior Pastor.

1992

6/7/02 – LCEF Mortgage Loan for 1992 construction Paid In Full

1994

In 1994, Bethel began a development program that provides for expansions and improvements into the new century.

1997

the opening of a 16-bed assisted living center (Bethel Suites) in 1997

2000

In 2000, The Village by Bethel Lutheran Home was established.

2002

In 2002 Pastor Pedro Suárez was called to establish a Latino Ministry.

2005

In 2005, the congregation dedicated a new 1,050-seat sanctuary and remodeled the old sanctuary into a main floor Fellowship Hall.

2008

the expansion into providing additional housing (Bethel Cottage Homes) in the form of twin homes built within the Bethel Community in 2008

2009

in 2009, a second Cottage Home duplex was built (Units C and D) and the New Hope Childcare Center was built.

A Homeless Ministry began in 2009.

2011

in 2011, groundbreaking was held for a million-dollar expansion and renovation project onto the original nursing home, which added new flooring to resident rooms, resident bathrooms, and new flooring in each of the three resident neighborhoods.

2012

The overall project was concluded in 2012.

2014

in 2014, four new apartments and eight attached garages were built onto the original Bethel Apartments complex.

2016

in 2016, remodeling of the vacant childcare center building began and two, larger patio homes were built in what is referred to as "Patio Home - East" and the first residents moved in on December, 2016.
