Job Description:
+ Skilled Folder Gluer Operator
+ Set up, adjust and operate Folder Gluers producing Folding Cartons
+ Inspect equipment for safety issues.
+ Make needed adjustments to coordinate the multiple workstations on a single machine.
+ Direct crew through all aspects of production.
+ Monitor quality, output and productivity.
Required Skills
Preferred Skills:
+ Preferably with equipment like Bobst or Bobst Vision, but not strictly required.
+ Basic knowledge of working with Bindery equipment such as Folder Gluers is highly required
Required Experience
+ Skilled Folder Gluer Operator with 2 - 5 years experience
+ Thorough knowledge of the set up, operating requirements, procedures, capabilities and limitations of Folder Gluers to perform the full range of standard and specialized in producing folding cartons.
+ Ability to read and interpret written work orders or other job specifications containing bindery requirements which indicate the number and sequence of machine operations required to complete the work and to maintain dimensional accuracy in accordance with instructions provided; independently makes decisions on the type of equipment to be used.
+ Knowledge of the quality and machining requirements of various coated and uncoated types of paper stock.
+ Must be able to calculate distances, clearances, and fits in combining machines.
+ Skill in using the full range of standard and specialized tools and devices to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating conditions of the bindery machines.

Job Description: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Location: Minneapolis, MN & Milwaukee, WI
6am-2pm Mon-Fri
Purpose of Position:A Bindery Folder Operator makes ready and uses folding equipment to fold, slit, and score sheets of paper. They aid in the production of brochures, catalogs, books, mailers, etc. to written specifications following Standard Operating Procedures and customer requirements. They perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment. They also train and monitor Bindery Helpers to achieve consistent performance and product quality.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Verify information on job ticket and staged materials (paper stock, cartons, etc.).
- Ensure that requirements are correct before initiating make ready on any equipment.
- Adjust guides to size of folded signatures or flat sheets.
- Inspect folded, slit or scored signatures visually for position approvals and readjusts controls to correct errors or inconsistencies.
- Get pre-production ok from supervisor and do continuity pulls throughout run.
- Set trimmer knives to trim sides of product to specified size.
- Turn controls to regulate tension of creasing blades and folding rollers according to paper thickness and printed (ink coverage, etc.) characteristics and to size and number of folds specified.
- Feed and off bear product off Folder or monitor Helpers performing feeding and off bearing operations.
- Complete paperwork related to job function (counter readings, signing job tickets, load tags etc.).
- Convey essential information to incoming shift personnel to minimize production delays and maximize efficiency.
- Practice safe work habits and housekeeping by coaching peers on safety and area maintenance and assisting with these responsibilities.
- Supervise and instruct Bindery Helpers, train them as needed to perform job duties
- Move loads or bundles, secure cartons, skids, etc.
- Troubleshoot problems to maintain quality standards and to keep equipment in running condition – performs minor and daily maintenance as required.
- Adhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures, making sure work area is hazard free and orderly
Skills and Abilities:
- Use hand tools or machines needed to perform operations appropriately and safely.
- Read e-job tickets, job information, purchase orders, blueprints, diagrams or drawings of items to be produced, purchased, maintained or repaired.
- Measure, cut or otherwise work on materials or objects with great precision and accuracy.
- Use arithmetic or shop geometry to figure and verify amounts or material needed, or to be ordered, dimensions to be followed and cost of materials.
- Visualize what the finished product will look like.
- Accept responsibility for the accuracy of the product produced.
- Accept responsibility for the efficiency of the production process
Physical Demands:
Requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the entire shift. Necessitates frequent lifting and carrying of materials up to 40 pounds and on occasion, more. To move objects by lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling. Requires the ability to bend and twist at the waist, stoop or crouch, and kneel on an occasional basis. Occasionally requires reaching, handling, and hand-to-eye coordination.
