+ Examine units to assess damage and estimate repair costs.

+ Develop plan for effective and proper vehicle repair.

+ Provide repairs including fiberglass, plastic, welding, sheet metal bonding, mechanical and painting.

+ Inspect units for quality and company standards.

+ Communicate with customers in a friendly and professional manner.

+ Prior automotive, Marine, or RV body experience.

+ Ability to multitask and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

+ Reliable and strong work ethic.

+ Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve parts required for repair; review repair orders, work order, and estimator notes; follow warranty guidelines; notify supervisor of any repair add-ons
• Adjust, replace, and repair all series of truck and trailer equipment (e.g., sheet metal repairs, fiberglass/ panel repairs, fabrication and structural welding, installation and alignment of truck cab body components, electrical and mechanical repairs, etc.)
• Road test vehicles when necessary to ensure quality repair
• Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills including truck manufacturer’s repair process
• Perform work as outlined on repair estimates with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards
• Teardown and inspect for additional or hidden repairs
• Advise body shop estimator of additional damage or supplemental needs or if repairs will not be completed on time
• Lead work of any apprentice technicians

Qualifications

• Welding, suspension, framework experience a plus OR willing to learn/train
• I-CAR certified a plus.
• Certifications listed above or equivalent experience and eagerness to improve
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record

About the Collision Technician Position

As a Collision Technician with First Student, you will perform automotive body repairs, including straightening bent bodies, removing dents, and replacing damaged parts. Other major job duties include:

• Performs damaged sheet metal and body repairs. remove, replace, or repair body parts using hand and power tools
• Documents all repair and maintenance actions on work orders
• Ensures vehicle security and safety while in the shop
• Provides written estimates of repair when requested

Collision Technician Qualifications

• Valid driver s license
• Must have your own tools
• Auto Body & Collision Damage repair certificate preferred
• 3+ years of experience within an auto body repair facility
• ASE credentials preferred
• Subject to a drug screen.
