TITLE: Substitute Youth Development Specialist (non-exempt)
DEPARTMENT: Programs
REPORTS TO: Site Director or Unit Director
PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Substitute YDS implements and supervises activities provided within a specific program area such as; Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, Health and Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, and Fitness and Recreation.

Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development
Outcomes:
promote and stimulate program participation;
register new members and participate in their club orientation process;
provide guidance and role modeling to members.
Program Development and Implementation
Effectively implement and administer services and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure the safety of members, quality of programs and appearance of the branch at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports.
Supervision
Ensure a productive work environment by participating in staff meetings as required by the supervisor or senior staff.
Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in the organization's Employee Handbook and elsewhere.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. May participate in special programs and/or events.
2. May be required to drive a Club van.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience in working with children (preferred)
• Knowledge of youth development.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, carts, sports equipment, etc. and reach overhead. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and multi task. The job requires about 85% walking and/or standing, and 15% sitting. This position will be in-person working at a school site. Exposure to noise. Will work inside and outside.

TITLE: Youth Driver/Monitor

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Youth Vehicle Driver/Monitor is responsible for operating a six or nine-passenger Boys & Girls Club vehicle to transport youth from school to the Clubhouse, assisting with the maintenance of Club vehicles and ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers. May be assigned a school site to supervise/monitor and interact with youth while waiting for the BGCGRR Club Van. May occasionally be needed to work with youth in the Club after completion of the scheduled route. This position follows the Redlands Unified School District Academic Calendar.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Drive youth TK- 8th grade to and from school to the BGCGRR Clubhouse.
Understands and adheres to all Club policies and procedures.
Understand and implement the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside.
Exemplify a positive role model for youth.
Preserve the health and safety of all passengers.
Help maintain a clean and safe vehicle.
Maintain general cleanliness of the Club vehicle, including removing trash and items left behind by Club Members.
Assure compliance with the directive requiring the number of passengers not to exceed the number of seat belts in the vehicle.
Maintain and control discipline in the vehicle and report problems to the Unit Director.
Maintain accurate reporting records.
Inspect vehicles daily and record and report findings.
Complete Accident/Incident Reports on all accidents/incidents that occur in the vehicle.
Ensure that all licensing requirements are completed and kept up to date.
Attend staff meetings as requested
OTHER ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
May be asked to provide homework/academic support to students in 1st-8th grade.
May be asked to participate in or drive Club vehicles for special programs and/or events.
Must be able to provide constant active supervision when working with members .
Monitor members at an assigned school site while waiting on van pickup.
Perform related duties as assigned by the Unit Director .
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to understand highway safety rules and regulations.
Ability to complete various forms and records, including route sheets, behavior forms, incident and accident reports
Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations, and precautions necessary to avoid accidents.
Must have a clear driving record.
Ability to operate a 6 and 9-passenger van safely and economically.
Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
