Overview of Responsibilities

The Bulk Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, packing, and stocking of all bulk foods featured at Sprouts. As the Bulk Manager, you will be responsible for following the merchandising Bulk plan, and ensuring your team is properly packaging and scaling bulk items, filling bulk bins, as well as preparing, wrapping, and pricing bulk packages accurately and legibly. You will order and maintain inventory, rotate product using code dates, and follow the company's cleaning and sanitation program. As the Bulk Manager, you will oversee the department's compliance with all company and governmental safety, health, Weights & Measures and COOL compliance regulations. You will be the one responsible to communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to your staff. The Bulk Manager is also responsible for providing a high level of customer service; making sure Bulk items are properly prepared, packaged and presented, and the Bulk area is clean and orderly at all times. In this role you will also receive, unload, and stock merchandise as needed throughout the day. If you are someone who thrives in a fast pace environment then we want to hear from you!

Qualifications

To be a Bulk Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market you must:

* Be at least 18 years of age and have 1- 2 years of experience in a retail grocery environment and 1 year manageria l/ leadership experience.
* Be dependable and reliable having the ability to work flexible schedule that changes; including night, weekends, and holidays
* Be able to maintain a positive work environment, provides a high level of prompt and friendly customer service, and maintain a presentable and tidy bulk department at all times; has the ability to provide and receive constructive feedback and perform repetitious activities
* Be expected to know weekly ad items; and be able to give customers direction of product location throughout the store; does general housekeeping in the department
* Be able to move vertically/horizontally transferring product weighing up to 50 lbs., from 4" to 36", for a distance up to 4 feet for up to 15 hours without mechanical assistance. This role requires continuous standing for up to 4 hours, for a total of 8 hours per shift,
* Be able to perform other related duties as assigned.

Overview: To lead the daily operation of the Bulk Department at Honest Weight. Achieve Sales, Margin and Labor Targets, Cultivate Departmental Teamwork and Vision. Provide Supervision & Management of Department Personnel, Customer Service. Oversight of Merchandising, Product Mix, Cleanliness and Safety.

Major Responsibilities:

Vision and Teamwork

* Articulate a vision for the department and impart this to all staff. Vision should include a documented understanding of specific roles within the department and how these are intended to complement each other to form a team.
* Conduct regular department meetings. Attend and participate in meetings as tasked by Supervisor.

Modeling Leadership & Customer Service

* Model behavior that is expected of all staff members.

Administrative:

* Monitor departmental financial indicators and use this data to improve department performance.
* Achieve department sales, margin and labor goals. Take corrective action if falling short.
* Use IT tools effectively, seeking training if needed. Keep information organized and accessible.
* Write and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for inclusion in SOP manual.

Product Mix, Price Image and Inventory Management

* Actively cultivate vibrant product mix, utilize Category management. Seek out training for yourself and other staff members where needed.
* Bring in new products, space planning and utilization, fixture selection and product placement.
* Ensure that department products conform to Co-op policy guidelines.
* Seek new sources for products in demand that aren't available through current distributors.
* Utilize reports and electronic tools to allocate proper shelf space, working with store merchandiser.
* Set pricing to achieve margin goals and maintain competitive price image.
* Make regular visits to competing stores and participate in price comparison.
* Ensure that staff replenish stock appropriately to ensure availability, minimize out of stocks and avoid lost sales, while managing inventory levels within budget constraints.
* Prepare for and coordinate staff support for all periodic physical inventories.

Visual Merchandising:

* Create and support aesthetically pleasing sets and displays that conform to merchandising standards and look sparkling clean, full, fresh, and abundant.
* Communicate and train staff on merchandising and branding standards.
* Ensure that shelf-level signs conform to branding standards, neatly in place with accurate information creating uncluttered effect.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* High School Diploma or Equivalent.
* Met or exceeded expectations on most recent performance evaluation.
* At least 1-year experience as a Floor Manager, Assistant Manager, or Department Manager at HWFC. If external candidate, at least two years' experience directly supervising a team.
* Previous experience with bulk: retail and wholesale, cooking, etc.
* Commitment to organic and local agriculture.
* Excellent Communication skills.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Proficient use in basic functions of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

Physical Requirements:

* Retail store environment.
* Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing. Occasional exposure to cool temperatures (coolers) and below zero temperatures (freezer.)
