Cable machine operator job description

Roto-Rooter Corporation is looking for a Cable Machine Operator. This position is located in our facility in Des Moines, Iowa. Roto-Rooter Corporation is looking for someone to set up and operate manual cable winding machines to form and shap wire to Roto-Rooter cable specifications.
Essential duties and responsibilities are listed below but not limited to:

+ Determine set-up procedure and dimensions of finished work piece

+ Trouble shoot machines when needed

+ Observes machine operations to detect malfunctions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform responsibilites successfully. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

+ High school diploma or GED equivalent

+ Must be able to lift up to 60-75 pounds

+ Must be able to repeatedly twist and pull while in a standing position at waist height.

Requirements

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency. Be able to stand and walk 10 hours a day
• Attention to detail is a must
• Must be able to visually inspect small items for accuracy
• Must be able to handle small parts
• Must have manual dexterity
• Ability to file in numerical sequence
• Must have intermediate computer skills
• Must have the ability to troubleshoot problems and good problem-solving skills
• Must be dependable and have a good attendance and work ethic
• Lift 25 lbs.
• ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs typical machine wire processing operations to support the assembly floor.
• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
• Must be able to perform but not limited to, the following tasks: wire processing, terminal crimping, tinning, twisting, and all set up and maintenance functions, and inspect.
• Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above.
• Complete tasks as directed by production schedules with minimum supervision
• Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per the P.M. charts.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up.
• Represent LSI Industries in the most positive manner with prospective, current and former employees, clients, suppliers, and the community we serve.
• Interact professionally and effectively with a diverse group of employees and customers.
• Learn and practices standard operating procedures.
• Maintain prompt and regular attendance based on the work hours established by management.
• Handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
• Other duties as assigned.
