Primary Purpose of Position
The Vice Chancellor for Transformative Partnerships and Economic Development (VCPED) is a senior executive responsible for advancing the university's broader strategy of economic growth, innovation, and community engagement. Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the VCPED will lead and build partnerships with industry, government, and community organizations to catalyze regional, state, and national economic development, with a specific focus on growing the university's research, commercialization, and workforce development efforts.

About the Opportunity The Linux/Windows Systems Administrator (IT Systems Administrator II) will be responsible for effective installation configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure. The system administration responsibilities will be focused on maintaining and enhancing the stability and performance of the systems, continuous monitoring of system health, troubleshooting issues that arise, and maintaining and improving the security posture of the systems.
This position will be accountable for Linux servers and related application systems that support the UNC System Office's hosted services. Responsibilities on these systems include installation, configuration and support of both production and development server and storage infrastructure. Tasks will include design, documentation and subsequent installation, configuration and support of infrastructure required to sustain the various phases of server and storage implementation, from development to live transition and support, as well as disaster recovery design and maintenance that includes yearly testing or as required.
This position will also share responsibility for the vulnerability management processes for the operational infrastructure, including regression testing and implementation.
Position must be able to provide 24 7 after-hours support for customer service as part of a call-out rotation, able to work on scheduled maintenance activities after-hours during the week and on weekends, and make periodic travel to data centers and UNC System locations, which may require overnight stays.
This position is a remote work arrangement with occasional travel required to the UNC System Office located in Raleigh, NC. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Biology at UNC-Chapel Hill is dedicated to the discovery and dissemination of new and existing knowledge in the broad discipline of Biology by maintaining a high-quality faculty who integrate cutting-edge research and student-focused teaching.
We are one of the largest academic departments in the College of Arts and Sciences. We have over 3,450 majors and we enroll undergraduate students in over 7,870 seats in our classes each semester. Each fall or spring semester, we offer 52 classes (70 sections) and 13 lab courses (93 sections). Our average total annual expenditure exceeds $24 million, with nearly half of that coming from grant sponsored research. Our department has nearly $70 million in active grants to support our twin missions of research and teaching. Our large research base spans many areas of biology and supports several outstanding graduate programs. We consist of 48 tenure-track faculty, 12 teaching faculty, 5 research faculty, and numerous active adjunct and emeritus faculty who are engaged in basic and interdisciplinary research and teaching, both within the department and between other departments and schools at UNC.
We currently have 50 graduate students and 30 post-docs and employ approximately 85 additional graduate and undergraduate students from across the university to assist in our teaching and research missions. Further, we are supported by an administrative staff of 20, with an additional 20 staff directly supporting research.
Position Summary
Assist with research on plant disease ecology in field and lab settings. The research technician will work on a grant-funded project examining how seasonal epidemics of infectious diseases are influenced by both climatic variables and ecological interactions among microbial species. Specific duties include extensive vegetation surveys of foliar fungal pathogens, management of data collected from surveys, collection of plant and fungal samples from the field, culturing and archiving of fungal pathogens from infected plant material, working on greenhouse inoculation protocols, extracting DNA from cultured fungal samples, and assisting other lab members with additional projects. The research technician should be able to 1) work independently under minimal supervision and with other team members, 2) work accurately and efficiently, and 3) maintain exceptional communication skills with the research team over the course of daily activities.

Willingness and ability to work early mornings and outdoors daily in the summer is required, in addition to familiarity with general research procedures. The capacity to communicate and work well with others as a team is also essential. Employees must be able to secure transportation to an off-campus field site (Duke Forest) on a daily basis, in addition to working at the on-campus lab when necessary. Previous experience working with plant diseases is not required - training on identification of foliar pathogens and particular methods in the study system will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Some course work in a relevant field, including ecology, biology, and environmental science. Experience conducting ecological research, especially in the field. Demonstrated experience working in outdoor conditions for extended periods of time is a plus.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Capacity and willingness to conduct outdoor field work during the daytime hours of summer. Field work will involve long periods of time spent kneeling into tall vegetation for surveys. The Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering is the nation's first engineering department in a school of public health founded in 1921. It is unique as an environmental science and engineering program housed in a school of public health. The mission of ESE is to promote human and ecological health for all by identifying, understanding, and solving pressing environmental challenges. Students and faculty work collaboratively to: (1) understand the environmental transport and transformation of chemicals and infectious agents; (2) protect vulnerable populations from toxic exposures; (3) mitigate the impacts of climate change on air, water and health; and (4) create a healthy, sustainable and equitable future. The faculty and students of the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering (ESE) are responding to, planning for, and working to mitigate new and evolving public health threats. Position Summary
We are seeking a candidate with doctoral training in an environmental health-related discipline such as exposure assessment, molecular or computational toxicology and biology, environmental chemistry, statistics, bioinformatics, geography, or epidemiology for an NIEHS funded T32 postdoctoral fellowship in Environmental Science and Engineering. The initial appointment period is 1 year with a maximum of 2 years of support. This fellowship is part of a robust training program, encompassing epidemiology, biostatistics and environmental sciences and affords the fellow the opportunity to pursue mentored research in their areas of interest. Fellows are encouraged to collaborate with UNC Investigators as well as adjunct training faculty at the NIEHS and EPA. Position Summary
This position is intended for scholars with expertise in medical image computing. Candidates should hold a doctorate in computer science, engineering, data science, medical physics, or a closely related field with a focus on medical image computing. Candidates are expected to be at the level of Full Professor or show equivalent evidence of international research distinction. They must have a strong track record in published research, obtaining external research funding, student teaching, and student mentoring, and a commitment to collaboration.

Lifeguard (Main Campus) Department: Campus Recreation Aquatics Status: Part Time This position ensures the safety of patrons within the Nathan Johnson Natatorium and/or Keith Hills Pool by preventing and responding to emergencies. The position works within the department of Campus Recreation at Campbell University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Maintains constant surveillance of patrons within designated facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
* Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
* Always presents a professional appearance and attitude and maintains a high standard of customer service.
* Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
* Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
* Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing pool rules and responding appropriately to emergencies.
* Communicate effectively with patrons and other staff.
* Maintain accurate attendance and progress records.
* Attend staff meetings and required training sessions.
* Promote a positive and encouraging atmosphere at all times.
* Uphold, and abide by, Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX, and Information Security including HIPAA, FERPA and other state and federal mandates.
Education/Experience:
* High School Diploma/GED. Less than high school with 1 year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified will be considered.
* Current Lifeguard certification.
* Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
* Strong swimming skills and water safety techniques.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
* Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
* Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department.
* Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
* Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
* Be self-motivated, in order to set a good example and be a good role model.
* Be well organized and have excellent time management skills.
* Strong communication skills, including verbal and written.
* Maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail are essential.
