Requirements
PRIMARY MISSION
The lead pastor will serve as a shepherd of the church and will provide spiritual oversight of the members for the purpose of making disciples and equipping them to follow Jesus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The pastor:
will provide a pulpit and teaching ministry that incorporates the exposition of Scriptures in all doctrine, exhorting the congregation to act upon Scriptural teaching in their daily lives.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a person who is a natural connector with a high relational IQ-willing to be used by the Holy Spirit to shepherd members and attendees of Vertical Church in taking the next step in following Jesus Christ. This person should be energized by working with people (extroverted)--while having competency in building ministry infrastructure that enables other leaders in the church to minister more effectively as well.
ESSENTIAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with the Senior Pastor to execute the Discipleship Vision and Core Values, as you model it in personal participation
Primary responsibility given for oversight, supervision, training, development, and coaching of the small group ministry team
Empower and enable a culture of biblical mutual ministry within our small groups (called Grace Groups in our church)
Oversee and engage in various Pastoral Care needs of members and attendees

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires five years of experience or more in developing a healthy church-wide small group ministry in conjunction with providing pastoral care, discipleship, and counseling.

Core ministry areas include MCC Kids, MCC Students, and a growing community that fosters spiritual growth and authentic relationships.
The student ministry, in particular, has a strong foundation of volunteers and leaders passionate about discipling the next generation, with weekly gatherings for middle and high school students that emphasize teaching, worship, and community. To better serve the next generation, MCC is currently remodeling a brand-new student ministry facility designed to create space for connection, discipleship, and outreach. This new building represents the church's ongoing investment in helping students encounter Jesus and engage deeply in the life of the church.
The church is seeking the right candidate to take over as the new Student Pastor to oversee their entire student ministry at the church. The right candidate for this role will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church's overall mission and vision. Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the overall vision and direction of MCC's middle and high school ministry in alignment with the church's mission to help people find and follow Jesus together.
Build and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and volunteers through consistent presence, encouragement, and discipleship.
Recruit, equip, and empower adult and student volunteers to lead small groups, events, and relational ministry.
Teach biblical truth in ways that connect with both new and maturing students, helping them apply Scripture to real life and cultural topics.
Develop and implement outreach initiatives that help students engage their schools and community with the gospel, fostering a culture of invitation and mission.
Plan and oversee weekly programming, retreats, trips, and events that foster connection, spiritual growth, and community.
Partner with parents as the primary spiritual influencers in their students' lives, providing communication, encouragement, and resources.
Develop a clear discipleship pathway that helps students grow in their faith and equips them to disciple others.
Maintain healthy administrative systems for scheduling, communication, and follow-up while fostering an environment of relational ministry.
Collaborate with staff to integrate students into the broader life of MCC through serving, worship, and community involvement.
