Since Southwest has undergone major renovations in recent years, it offers a pleasant and stimulating environment for students when they're not in class. Some examples are a new performing arts complex, as well as a new stadium, bookstore and student services center. With a significantly lower tuition for California residents, Southwest is accessible in a way that most four-year schools are not. However, many students still require additional assistance. For this reason loans, grants, work-study and scholarships are offered to those who qualify. Tuition waiver programs are also available to certain populations including veterans.
