Ferry Cap and Set Screw has been providing its customers with the highest quality specialty fasteners for over 100 years.

The Atlas Grinder Setup Operator will have the following responsibilities and requirements:
Responsibilities:
  • operation of centerless grinder cells
  • Make changes and adjustments to machines.
  • Run production on grinders
  • monitor robotic and track feed systems
  • Monitor production, move material, make machine adjustments
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Record quality measurements of part produced for in process inspection
  • Set-up operator will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
Education and Experience:
High school diploma
Minimum 3 years operating centerless grinders.

Skills
Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routings, use shop math, and use various hand held measuring tools.
Physical demands and work environment:
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
  • Continuously stands through 8 hour shift.
  • Lift up to 100 lbs.
Rate is 26 to 28.81 / hr plus shift premium
Eligible for sign-on bonus up to 2k

Position Summary: Performs set-ups, adjusts and operates a variety of production centerless grinding machines to produce product to close tolerance and finish requirements.

Essential Job Duties:

* Effectively monitors production while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
* Install and set grinder wheels, regulating wheels, work blades, and dressers
* Responsible for quality and quantity of work produced in assigned production area.
* Follows established policies and regulations.
* Associate must have general knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, and hand tools and be familiar with computers.
* Work is performed under the direct supervision of the supervisor with guidance from team leader.
* Check fixed gauges to maintain close tolerance.
* Maintain tools, equipment and work area in proper manner.
* Fill out route cards; keep chart of next operations for each part; call for parts tub.
* Responsible for quality: Accept training in blueprint reading, use of gauges and measuring tools common to manufacturing, along with related statistical process control principles and other quality control procedures.
* Must be knowledgeable in and practice all safety procedures.
* Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One to three months related experience and/or training/ or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and complete necessary production forms. Ability to speak effectively with fellow employees and/or customers.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables; problem solving ability.
