Qualifications:
Minimum Education: High school diploma, At least one (1) year experience in a sterile processing position is desirable, but not required
Minimum Experience: Sterile Processing certification, basic computer skills, and medical terminology skills
Required Certification/Registration: For staff hired after January 1, 2016,
Central Sterile Technician Certification is required by International Association of Healthcare Central Service
Material Management (IAHCSMM) or the Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician credential
administered by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
Must maintain certification. Must complete 10/12 hours of continuing education each year (Jan 1st to Dec 20th)
and be able to provide proof of courses taken that relates to sterile processing.
Physical Requirements: Standing and walking much of the day. Often has to lift and carry supplies and trays weighing up to 25 lbs. and may be called upon to push heavy supply carts through hospital corridors. In addition, performs decontamination, assembly and stocking procedures within the organization.

Responsible for proper handling of sterile supplies, maintains CSD owned & rented equipment and specialty patient care items. Supplies include medical/surgical equipment, instruments, and patient beds.
Responsibilities:
* Pulls and delivers supplies/items and equipment to requesting areas; obtains special request items.
* Responsible for proper storage of general stores supplies and rotation of all goods. (FIFO)
* Places orders for Patient Care Items, to include rental beds, rental equipment and specially requested medical items.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing exemplary customer service to clinical and physician resources and leaders that reach out to Central Supply for products and/or services. Will work independently and as a team in accurately assembling items for Code Carts and Procedure Carts for the entire campus. Thoroughly clean and/or distribute equipment for patient care as required. Responsible for special requests received from a variety of channels, documenting chargeable items, and ordering products for Central Supply. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Rotates to assignments among various areas within the department and/or campus.
• Assignments may include but are not limited to dispensing and delivering patient care supplies, delivering equipment to procedural areas or clinical units, assembling procedure carts/code carts, providing up-to-date pharmacy drawers, and facilitating their exchange.
• Tracking department and patient supply utilization for processing patient charges and interunit transfers for patient care supplies in the proper billing application(s).
• Utilizing a hand-held computer, may be responsible for the ordering of supplies, tracking outstanding open orders, working with Procurement and/or manufacturers to track down supplies or orders, and restocking supplies as necessary.
