Municipal Services & Operations projects and services are vital to the growth, health, safety, comfort and quality of life for our community.Responsibilities:The Project Inspector will perform highly technical inspection and engineering duties for public improvements (streets, sidewalks, fiber optics, traffic signals, waterline and sanitary sewer line projects), major capital projects, maintenance activities, and right-of-way. Other key responsibilities are to ensure and document site compliance, administer and monitor contracts, prepare and review plans and specifications, and verify pay estimates. This position will also be responsible for performing a variety of technical tasks relative to the services and operations of the Department.     The Water Utility Engineer performs professional civil and environmental engineering work involving supervising, coordinating and administering major public improvement projects and programs, with a concentration for GIS Mapping and asset management of the City s Water System, including Treatment-Storage-Pumping-Distribution Systems. The incumbent supervises and participates in the planning, design, budgeting, and scheduling of engineering projects, including overseeing the work of contractors and consultants. This position primarily works 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Minimum qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in civil engineering or closely related field. Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of Kansas or with the ability to obtain Kansas reciprocity within six months of hire date. Three years of engineering experience after professional registration with at least two years as a project manager. Four years of engineering experience in water systems planning, design, construction, operations and asset management. Must possess and maintain a valid driver s license and city insurable driving record. Kansas driver's license is required within six months of hire date. Annual entry salary: Up to $130,000 DOQ.
