The Plan Reviewer/Inspector will be responsible for performing plan review and Inspection work covering a full scope of residential and commercial construction ranging from new residential homes and remodeling to all types of non-residential projects.
Depending on the assignment, the incumbent will perform a combination of the following responsibilities, and perform related duties as assigned:
Inspect commercial and residential projects to verify building code compliance Review proposed commercial and residential building plans for code compliance. Prepare reports detailing findings as a result of plan reviews and/or inspections. Investigate building code, Unified Development Ordinance and Nuisance Ordinance complaints and take appropriate enforcement action. Work closely with project managers and enforcement staff as needed. Respond to special requests as directed by the Department Director or Building Official. Work at off-site locations as needed to serve our municipal clients.
The ability to work closely and communicate in a professional manner with the public, our municipal partners and co-workers. Willingness and ability to be a problem solver. Ability to work both individually and in a team atmosphere. Strong proficiency in the use of technology such as: Microsoft Office products, permit management software, computer, I-Pad and I-Phone.
Education and Experience Requirements
4-6 years of experience and/or International Code Council certifications as a plan reviewer and/or building inspector or the ability to obtain the necessary certifications in a timely manner.
Physical Demands of the Position
Ability to spend extended periods of time in a vehicle and at a desk. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
