Zippia score 3.7
No, PBS Coals doesn't have anything to do with the Public Broadcasting Service or a new Ken Burns documentary on the history of the US energy industry. The company, which mines coal in Pennsylvania, derives its name from the three counties where it originally engaged in mining: Preston County, West Virginia; Bedford County, Pennsylvania; and Somerset County, Pennsylvania. It produces about 2.5 million tons annually. Canadian investment group Sprott Resource had owned about 20% of PBS Coals. In 2008, however, Russian steel company Severstal, looking to supply its own raw materials, bought PBS Coals for about $1.3 billion.
