Position Summary
We are seeking a 2nd shift CNC Machinist to work out of the West Allis, WI facility. The CNC machinist sets up and operates CNC machines or machining centers to fabricate metal parts, applying knowledge of shop theory and practice, shop math, machinability of materials and layout techniques.
Essential Duties
Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specs, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work.
Determine sequence of operation.
Select, align, and secure holding fixtures and cutting tools.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, flow, and depth/angle of cut.
Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
May enter commands to retrieve, input or edit programs.
Start, observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-balance machining and adjust machine as required.
May confer with engineers, product personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems.
Perform inspections at the machine to verify part is to specifications.
Perform daily and weekly maintenance on machines as outlined in preventative maintenance procedures.
Maintain clean and orderly workstations by their assigned machines.
Support supervisor and in process development and tooling development.
Be an active team member in 5-S initiatives.
Train and assist other operators in variety of machine tools.
Willingness to support other departments to meet customer schedules and demands, this includes but not limited to performing assembly work, running manual machines like Bridgeport mills and grinders.
Operate cranes and fork trucks.
Education and Required Experience
Technical schooling in related field preferred.
5 -10 years' experience in shop math and metrics.
Ability to read blueprints.

Must understand G-code and M-code programs.

Overview:
The CNC Machinist will need to be knowledgeable in programming and importing 3D models into software for the lathes and mills to create high quality specialty parts that will take our Automation Robotic Designs to the next level. What Will You Do?
Prepare and operation a 3-axis CNC mill, water jet and turning centers.
Import 3D models into programming software.
Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting vises, chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, stock pushers and indicating vises.
Generate a G-Code file from programming software and download to the CNC machine.
Prepare and load raw materials and parts safely into the desired CNC machine.
Stay current with engineering concepts, participate in training on new releases of software manufacturing techniques and quality concepts; train other individuals and departments as needed.
Inspect and measure all parts that are being created on the CNC machines for the desired result. Check and maintain CNC machinery daily to ensure functionality, including preventive maintenance and proper housekeeping.
Enter all CNC machine drawings, bills of material into machine manuals with the correct labeling as well as backed up in the correct locations on the network.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Set-up and operates CNC machines (mills, lathes, etc.) to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate production.
Load material during operation and change or adjust cutting tools and offsets when required
Determine if programs need to be updated or modified to meet current conditions and provide feedback to appropriate team members
Deburr product to drawing requirements using hand and power tools with high precision
Check and fill machine fluid levels, manages chips, and monitors equipment for maintenance requirements
Read, understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to guide activities and ensure quality
Understand inspections of work completed, perform inspections and document deviations from engineering drawing
Follow verbal, written, and electronic work instruction to complete tasks
Keep daily production records and record pertinent manufacturing data where required
Learn, practice and follow all safety standards and policies and ensure a safe operating environment, including use of appropriate protective equipment and identification of potential safety concerns
Maintains a clean and organized work environment.

High School Diploma or equivalent
2-year vocational program and 1-3 years related experience (preferred)
3-5 years equivalent combination of related education and experience (alternatively)
Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
Ability to effectively manage stress, including competing work demands and multiple projects at the same time.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read drawings and technical specifications including global dimensioning and tolerancing (GD+T)
Experience with a variety of CNC machines (mills, lathes, etc.).
Knowledge of different materials and cutting tools.
