Hebrew SeniorLife computer trainer job description

The purpose of this position is to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) and provide academic support for English Language Learners as well as basic computer literacy classes for entry-level learners. The position seeks to improve the ability of entry-level learners and/or English Language Learners to communicate via computers and/or English to meet their academic, professional, and personal goals.
This position is grant funded and is 28 hours per week.
Position Responsibilities:
English as a Second Language
• Teaching assigned ESL classes
• Planning, developing, and implementing lesson plans
• Developing and coordinating special activities and programs for English Language Learners
• Working with individual learners to help them achieve their learning goals
• Assisting with testing, enrollment, and orientation processes
• Assisting in the development of academic and other resources to enhance the program and adult learner success
• Providing attendance, program reports, and documenting positive program outcomes
• Provide a supportive environment that fosters learner participation and interaction
• Develop and maintain a learning environment appropriate for adult learners
• Take necessary and reasonable precautions to provide a safe environment for learners
Computer Literacy
• Teaching assigned computer literacy classes
• Planning, developing, and implementing lesson plans

• Working with individual learners to help them achieve their learning goals

Qualifications:
• Degree from an accredited teacher preparation program. MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) or teaching certificate with ESL endorsement preferred
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and have experience with Zoom platform. Familiar with or able to quickly pick up skills with relevant digital tools (e.g. SharePoint)
• Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple requests in a timely fashion
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
