**Job Description**

As an Engineer in the Autonomous Trucks Team, you will help lead the configuration of the kits to accomplish the machine integration design. You will solve complex and global technical problems. You will coordinate the planning and delivery of projects including the addition of new kits, attachments, and options. Specifically, you will be responsible for the configuration of the Command for Hauling systems that allow Haul Trucks to run autonomously within a MineStar environment.

**Job Duties:**

+ Lead the Command for Hauling configuration kits architecture, design, and life cycle management plan to enable autonomy on Large Mining and Off-Highway Trucks.

+ Develop detailed technical specifications and validation plans.

+ Provide technical guidance and initiate ideas.

+ Communicate results to global customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units.

+ Complete projects on time and on cost.

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum.

+ 3 plus years of job-related experience in machine design, technology development, or mining applications.

**Top Candidates will also have:**

+ Product application knowledge.

+ Experience with light fabrications.

+ Experience with electrical systems.

+ Experience working with kitting suppliers.

+ Experience with APQP, GEC, and Supply Chain.

+ Experience with Team Center and Creo.

+ Project leadership experience.

The location for this position is Tucson, AZ.

Responsibilities

• Resolution of any compliance issues and the tracking of compliance procedures and policies
• Facilitation of audits related to configuration management
• Work closely with system engineers to document various segments of the system and develop the existing top-level configuration management processes and documentation, to include developing, implementing, and enforcing a change & configuration management process that captures changes from each phase of the system lifecycle
• Responsible for analyzing and managing the Configuration Management Plan (CMP)
• Reviews, develops, and updates step-by-step procedures for building, re-creating, and/or decomposing various virtual and physical systems and components.
• Managing configuration programs to ensure that all proposed and actual changes to program technology and documentation are properly staffed, approved, and tracked
• Facilitating the change notification process used for updating products
• Ensuring notification of performing organizations or project teams of change activity

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience with modern configuration, application, and life cycle management of build processes to maintain version control for hardware, software, including code and COTS/GOTS packages, libraries, containers, virtual machines, releases, and documents
• 2 years' experience with Ansible, GitHub, and Java.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Engineering Management, Math, or equivalent.
• Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Strong working knowledge of processes and policies involved in the modification or reconfiguration of hardware and software system/equipment configuration end item.

Communication and Organizational Qualifications

• Oral and written communications skills
• Experience communicating and collaborating with developers, testers, systems engineer, DBAs, scrum masters, business owners and management
• Ability to work with technical writers giving the instructions for SOPs, and other release/operational documents
• Ability to work independently and with various other teams across the organization
• Ability to work with teams that support application (both centralized and distributed)
• Familiarity with the Agile principles and methodology, SAFe Framework
• Strong familiarity with Agile software management tools like Atlassian applications

The Configuration Engineer (CE) is part of the Machine Integration & Test (MIT) Engineering Team and owns the system configuration for the assigned proto systems. Responsibility includes, but is not limited to, the registration of all hardware built into the system, understanding the delta to the required baseline configuration and support definition of a plan to close the gap in line with integration requirements.

Role and responsibilities

The CE performs a vital role to secure materials, tools and resources, including sequences and procedures, to facilitate the execution of Engineering Changes. The CE will support the Upgrade Integrator, Configuration Architect, and will work closely with machine owners (Proto Integrators) to maintain configuration. Supports engineering, research and development, and manufacturing in the testing of optical, mechanical and electrical modules and sub-systems, and the integration and test of complex systems.

Education and experience

BS in Computer Science, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Math or any other applicable STEM degree. Minimum 2 years of experience preferred with BS degree.

MS in Computer Science, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics, Applied Physics, or Mechanical Engineering preferred. No experience required with MS degree.

Minimum experience:

2 years of experience preferred with BS degree or
No experience required with MS degree

Preferred experience:

Knowledge and experiences in high-tech machinery, optics, laser-induced plasma, optical metrology, and/or controls of such devices preferred, not required.
Experiences with vacuum systems a plus.
