Serves as a lead for the Ergonomic Program for the Medical Center service areas. Provides expert consultation to departments, physicians, and employees on ergonomics. Comprehends and interprets design templates to assess ergonomic risk factors. Provides consultation during the design concept phase. Conducts Job Task Analysis using qualitative and quantitative tools to identify the scope and characteristics of ergonomic hazards. Coordinates and implements controls from the results of assessments.
Essential Responsibilities:

+ Serves as lead for ergonomic program, projects, and ergonomic specialists for the Medical Center Area.

+ Provides oversight and mentors one or more ergonomic specialist and staff.

+ Facilitates resolution of major problems encountered by ergonomic specialist.

+ Works with senior management to negotiate major revisions in time commitment and resource allocation.

+ Provides ergonomic and workplace safety consultation/subject matter expertise on new building construction, remodels, and equipment.

+ Ensures strategic directions of projects are in line with organizational business plan.

+ Provides leadership to multi-disciplinary teams, as well as manages work of outside consultants.

+ Accountable for the development of project documentation for senior executives and other key stakeholders to facilitate sharing of project outcomes and best practices.

+ Makes formal presentations to senior executives.

+ Responsible for developing ergonomic training programs for multiple audience levels.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

+ Minimum five (5) years of ergonomics experience required.

Education

+ Bachelors degree in related field of study (e.g. human factors, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Physical Therapy, Biomechanics Engineering) or four (4) years of ergonomic experience may be substituted for bachelors degree.

+ High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

+ Certified Industrial Ergonomist OR Certified Human Factors Engineering Professional OR Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist OR Certified Associate Ergonomist

Additional Requirements:

+ Computer experience in office applications

+ Knowledge of ANSI/BIFMA standards.

+ Knowledge of anthropometric measurements for ergonomics.

+ Demonstrated knowledge in essential ergonomic assessment techniques (RULA, REBA, BEST, BRIEF, NIOSH Lifting Equation) and familiarity in using ergonomic assessment tools (e.g. force gauges, pinch grip meters, etc.).

+ Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment

+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.

+ Position requires considerable walking, standing, sitting and moderate lifting

+ Travel between facilities required
