The Phoenix Electronics MRO is looking for a highly motivated, proactive, and self-directed CORE Co-op (Onsite). This candidate will drive continuous improvement efforts for our manufacturing floor and business processes in the site.. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and will run a minimum of January- August; it is only eligible for current students with a graduation date past August 2023.
Primary Responsibilities

+ Participate / Lead CORE engagements to drive measurable manufacturing and business process improvements in the site

+ Plan, lead, and execute the implementation of the CORE Operating System within the PHX site, which may involve writing standard work, solving problems, etc.

+ Report on CORE training, engagement, and certification progression

+ Present kaizen report outs to the site leadership team as required

+ Assist in planning the site's annual Lean Leadership Week

+ Work toward becoming a certified CORE Apprentice, Champion, and Professional

+ Work and communicate with shop floor, office, and senior leadership team members

+ Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality and other teams as required to drive improvements in the business

Basic Qualifications

+ Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline (Business, Supply Chain, Engineering)

+ Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

+ Looking for a candidate who is interested in staying with the site for the entire 2023, and will be looking for a full-time offer at the end of the co-op

+ Previous experience/ highly knowledgeable of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.

+ Experience in a manufacturing environment

+ Experience making process improvements and/or leading kaizens

+ Leadership skills

+ Holds a CORE Apprentice and/or Champion, Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt, or other equivalent industry certification

+ Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) or other coding experience

+ Experience with Solidworks, NX, or other Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software

+ SAP, JDE, or other ERP system

+ >= 2 years of college completed

Job Description

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET level national security clearance.

Essential Job Functions:

+ Active Shooter program development, implementation, and training delivery; and coordination of CPR/First Aid and AED training.

+ Assists with creation, revision, dissemination, delivery and tracking of training, and implementation of emergency response plans and awareness programs such as the Occupant Emergency Plan, COOP Plan, Active Shooter

+ Conducts COOP program evaluations on monthly and annual basis.

+ Applies appropriate analytical methods to analyze emergency response and preparedness data and develops reports using standardized methodologies and templates that present findings in an objective and balanced manner with well-supported conclusions and/or recommendations.

+ Develops and coordinates a SSD focused article for the FERC Monthly Newsletter.

+ Assists in managing, maintaining, and tracking all UHF radio equipment.

+ Trains all Occupant Emergency Plan team members on proper radio use, procedures, and processes.

+ Coordinates the Annual National Emergency Preparedness Event (September) with Federal, State, Local and non-governmental organizations to present health, safety, emergency preparedness information at FERC HQ.

+ Serves as an administrator of FERC Emergency Notification system to include answering questions, updating profiles and groups, and sending messages.

+ Develops appropriate and necessary informational documents such as brochures, and frequently asked questions (FAQs)

+ Coordinates the posting of appropriate SSD information on both the SSD internal and external websites

+ Communicates complex ideas and issues, both orally and in writing, in a manner that is clear, correct, timely, and understandable to executives as well as subject matter experts.

+ Independently takes meeting notes and composes briefing/meeting summaries or minutes and distributes them to appropriate personnel.

+ Regularly shares program/project information with co-workers to increase staff awareness of all program areas within timeframes established by management.

+ Provides advice and guidance consistent with appropriate guidelines in a coherent, articulate, positive, helpful manner that result in thorough communications and understanding of relevant issues.

+ Maintains an inventory and account for emergency rations and water; AED's; First Aid Kits as well as safety and health supplies at all FERC headquarters and regional office locations and research and prepares procurement needs and documentation for any necessary restocking of used and/or expired items.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

+ Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Must have a minimum of one-year Emergency response/COOP/safety experience such as developing and implementing Occupant Emergency Plans, continuity plans, or other preparedness or emergency response activities.

+ This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET level national security clearance.

+ Must have a working knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS).

+ Must have completed the following:

+ ICS 100b: Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS)

+ ICS 200b: Incident Command System (ICS)

+ IS 546a: Continuity of Operations Awareness Course

+ IS-547a: Introduction to Continuity of Operations

+ Must be a U.S. citizen.

+ Must have a valid driver's license.

+ Must have demonstrable proficiency and fluency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language to include the ability to construct and write clear, concise, accurate, and detailed reports.

+ Must have the ability to understand, and apply printed rules, directives, detailed orders, instructions, procedures, and training materials.

+ Must be able to sit, stand, walk, run, and lift items weighing not exceeding of 50 lbs.

Preferred education/experience:

+ ICS 300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents

+ E/L/G 548: Continuity of Operations Program Managers T-t-T Course

+ Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Publisher.
