Responsibilities

+ Prepare/review specifications and design calculations for the design of single failure proof cranes and rigging appurtenances in accordance with regulatory requirements and applicable industry codes and standards

+ Develop project specifications for the procurement of cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices, including single failure proof cranes

+ Interface with crane vendors, review vendor deliverables (drawings, calcs., etc.) for conformance to specification requirements

+ Prepare calculations / review calculations for engineered rigging devices

+ Prepare modification packages for implementation of crane, hoist, and lifting devices at nuclear power plants

+ Review and provide guidance to owner for Vendor supplied crane documentation and evaluate non-conformance items for upgraded lifting systems across fleet

Qualifications

+ BS or MS in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural engineering from an ABET accredited program

+ Five or more years of experience in crane & lifting device designs

+ Knowledgeable in ASME B30 series, ASME BTH-1, ASME NOG-1, ASME NUM-1, CMAA #70 and #74, NUREG-0554 and NUREG-0612

+ PE license is preferred

Our Engineer Surveyor roles allow you to develop your mechanical engineering skills further and work for a market-leading engineering inspection provider.

Zurich Engineering is looking to expand our highly skilled, field-based, Engineer Surveyor team, and we currently have a vacancy for the **Nottingham** area for a **Lift and Crane** Engineer Surveyor.

**What will I be doing?**

You'll start with our industry-leading, bespoke training and move swiftly to carrying outhands-on statutory inspections, providing your expert opinion on a wide range of equipment, enabling our clients to comply with all relevant legislation andto the exacting standards both we and our clients demand. Following your inspection, we'll need you to report back using a rugged laptop, and then issue electronically to our clients, so good IT skills and high levels of literacy are required. You will be an excellent communicator, and confident in your ability to make sound engineering judgements.

**What skills/qualifications will I have?**

You will be an experienced engineer with a sound knowledge of your engineering discipline and be part of our multi-disciplined inspection team within your geographic area. You will report to a Team Manager and be based from home, with your client base a reasonable travelling distance from your home.

**Because this role is SAFEd governed, we need you to ideally have obtained:**

+ A Level 4 qualification (HND / HNC etc.) in a relevant engineering field, support is available to allow you to achieve IEng status whilst working as we want to help you gain professional membership.

+ An NVQ Level 3 or ONC qualification

+ You will have completed, either a time served or Modern Apprenticeship

+ Hands-on experience in a relevant engineering discipline

+ A background in working with lifts and/or crane equipment would be an advantage, hands on experience of working in a role such as manufacturing / repair / maintenance/mechanical/motor trade.

+ A full valid UK driving licence.

+ Be willing and able to work paid overtime.

**The Reward:**
