This is a recruitment for a short-term/temporary position. This recruitment will be open until the positions are filled. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning July 2025. DEFINITION: Tutoring serves college students by assisting with academic success strategies. The primary responsibilities of a tutor are to support students to become more independent learners, persist in college, and reach their goals. Tutors provide subject area knowledge and serve as a model for students in the techniques, strategies, attitudes, and beliefs that successful learners employ as they acquire new knowledge, solve problems, and complete academic tasks. Additionally, tutors provide individual and/or group tutoring to students across a broad range of courses based on their personal area of expertise. Tutors meet with students to clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes and help students solve specific problems. Tutoring supports classroom-centered activities, and as such, the emphasis and content of tutoring sessions is determined by student's needs.

Qualifications
* Must be recommended/endorsed by a faculty member from the discipline or disciplines in which the student will tutor;
* Must have earned a B or better in the course/subject area applying to tutor.

Under the general supervision of a Dean and work direction of an Athletic Director and head coach, an Assistant Coach provides comprehensive instruction and leadership to student athletes. This can include responsibility for assisting the head coach with coaching multiple aspects of the sport, the recruitment of student athletes, assistance with team meetings, event attendance and public relations.
Job Duties
Provide instruction, mentoring and coaching to student athletes in the skills, techniques, and competitive strategies necessary for individual and team achievement of athletic standards of performance; evaluate individual and team performance and refine individual and team strategies throughout the season. Apply training programs for multiple areas of the sport, as well as technical training.
Assist in planning and scheduling including; events, competitions and practices, in collaboration with coaches within and outside of the conference and in concert with academic schedules, District policy, and California Community College Commission on Athletics (CCCAA)/Western States Conference regulations. Promote interest and attendance at athletic events; assist in fundraising efforts for the program.
Create a positive atmosphere for student athletes; support academic progress, retention, and matriculation of student athletes through mentoring activities; refer student athletes to support services, programs, resources, and other professionals as appropriate; maintain confidential student-athlete information.
Assist with the recruiting process in compliance with CCCAA regulations to identify and attract promising student athletes; maintain contract with prospective student athletes and provide prompt follow-up to inquiries from potential student athletes.

Minimum Qualifications
Extensive experience and knowledge of the sport is required. At least two years of previous coaching and/or playing experience is required. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred in Kinesiology or a related degree and two years of professional experience. All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.

Principles, techniques, and methods of the subject sport. Current theory and practice within the subject discipline. Principles and best practices of effective teaching. Learning theories and student learning outcomes and methods of assessment. Community college curricula. Community and campus resources, services, programs and professionals available to students. Initiate and maintain a team program that is consistent, reasonable, and effective for the student athlete and the team. Deliver coaching instruction in various learning styles. Integrate current and emerging instructional experience. Maintain a positive and professional relationship with students, athletes, professional peers and alumni. The Communications and Records section dispatches university police and other public safety personnel, and operates as the primary campus public safety answering point, using an enhanced 9-1-1 telephone system. The Police Dispatcher performs initial caller interrogation to determine the appropriate level of service needed in emergency situations and allocates appropriate personnel and resources to incidents. Fire and emergency medical response are initiated by the Police Dispatcher and are transferred to allied agencies. The Police Dispatcher offers pre-arrival patient-care instructions and performs other duties of emergency medical dispatch, using guidelines established by the appropriate Emergency Medical Services Agency. About the Department
The Department of Kinesiology and Public Health (KPH) is a major academic unit within the Bailey College of Science and Mathematics offering a BS in Kinesiology and a BS in Public Health. There are approximately 700 undergraduate students, 16 full time faculty, 3 full time lecturers, 30 part time lecturers, and 5 support staff. The mission of the KPH Department is to promote physical activity and health for all through excellence in teaching, research and service. The department launched a BS in Public Health, enrolling the first cohort of students in the Fall of 2018. Our faculty are actively engaged teacher scholars who study chronic disease prevention and treatment, access to healthcare, digital technologies, reducing health disparities, promoting maternal and child health, movement behaviors, tobacco cessation, health communications, sexual health, and gender-based violence prevention. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or a closely related discipline and a demonstrated ability and experience in effectively communicating information to a wide variety of audiences and an interest in teaching and service activities.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Agricultural Education and Communication Department at Cal Poly has approximately 260 undergraduate students, 155 Master's Degree candidates, and eight full-time faculty who teach in the areas of teacher education and agricultural communications. Cal Poly produces nearly half of all of the newly credentialed Agriculture teachers for the state of California each year. Graduates of the department have proven to be effective leaders in secondary, post-secondary, and higher education, not only in California, but throughout the United States. Cal Poly is viewed as the "home" for agricultural education in California. The State FFA Judging Finals and the Summer Conference for the California Agricultural teachers' Association have been held on the Cal Poly campus for over ninety years. The Brock Center for Agricultural Communication is housed within the Agricultural Education and Communication Department, and serves as the laboratory for students to develop their writing, social media, and verbal communication skills. The Brock Center produces a quarterly magazine, the Ag Circle, for the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Science. Ag Communication students are active nationally by attending the Ag Media Summit each year, and have earned numerous awards in national competition, including the "Outstanding Publication" for the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow organization.

One of five departments in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design, the award-winning Department of City and Regional Planning offers two PAB accredited professionally-oriented programs - a Bachelor of Science degree (BSCRP) and a Master of City and Regional Planning (MCRP). The bachelor's program provides strong preparation in land use, physical planning and urban design. Master's degree candidates work for professional practice in either urban land planning and development or regional and environmental planning. There is a joint Master's degree in Transportation Planning with the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. Interdisciplinary courses are offered with other college departments, there is a strong interest in sustainability and the integration of knowledge through team based projects.
