Hearst cutting press person job description

$1,000 Sign-on Bonus!

The Times Union is seeking an experienced offset journeyman pressman to join its Albany, NY, production operation. If hired, you will work with a close-knit team responsible for maintaining and operating a state-of-the-art KBA Commander CL press that produces Times Union and numerous commercial print publications in a high-quality and cost-effective manner, seven days a week.

Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of web offset newspaper or commercial printing experience.
  • Able to produce high-quality print results on a consistent basis.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on meeting deadlines and customer expectations.
  • Well-developed verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency with computerized press controls and operator interfaces.
  • Technical knowledge and mechanical aptitude for newspaper printing operations, including equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Hours: Primarily evenings and weekend evenings, but hours can vary based on training and production needs.

Pay: This is a union position with an hourly rate of $32.59 per hour for a full Journeyman. Benefits include medical and dental insurance, 401K, life insurance, paid vacations, sick time, holidays and personal time. $500 sign-on bonus after 90 days, and another $500 after six months of satisfactory performance.
